Alex Jacques Must Go!

Does he really talk like that.
What must DC think of him, as DC is beyond laid back.
DC has been in & around the Paddock for almost 30 years, both as a competitor & in a journalistic capacity. Alex is new to the job, probably been working toward it for years & this is his big break, that brings pressure. DC will have been there, done that, been scrutinised in microscopic detail every fortnight for 15 (competitve) years, he now knows everyone & is probably wealthy enough to do as much or as little of anything as he wants. There's no pressure or real expectation on him, of course he's laid back! Two different Men at opposing ends of their lives & careers. Does he really talk like that.

Alex is a young Guy, mere months into a new job under a huge spotlight, it's only the third race of the year, give him a fair crack of the Whip. For what it's worth, I quite like Alex, he's settling down nicely.

Still just as JARRING with his random and ABSOLUTELY unwarranted stress on words for no APPARRENT reason. Totally unnecessary and very unnatural commentary style. Trying too hard IMHO.Alex is a young Guy, mere months into a new job under a huge spotlight, it's only the third race of the year, give him a fair crack of the Whip. He's not new to commentary. If he was I might be able to accept his style short term but he must know.
I could barely understand Lawrence Barretto with his mask on at times this week.
Anyway I've found a way to see the live race with the Sky commentary (not much better but definitely better) so I'm out.

Carlos SaiINNz is his favourite driver don't you know. He's not new to commentary. If he was I might be able to accept his style short term but he must know.

I haven't watched Alex commentating F2. But clearly he does not come accross comfortable and far from natural at the moment. The last few F1 races has been great but would have been much better if Ben Edwards commentated! The guys was just spot on and all the emotions were always coming through in the correct moments.
Alex is complete opposite! He tries too hard to impress and seem to be just reporting and over emphasising a lot of unimportant facts! Also it seems at time he is trying to outweigh the legend David Coulthard! I personally think the young Billy monger would have done a better job than Alex!
Alex just makes the F1 experience less pleasant to be very honest...
I apologies to Alex fans. This is just my opinion...

Hi all. Long time lurker, annoyed enough to post!
I notice more and more these days, TV presenters thinking everything they say has to be "announced" and copying the same unnatural patterns of word emphasis from one another.
Alex Jacques in qualifying took it to extremes. Every sentence was presented in that announcer's voice. There was nothing natural about his manner of speaking at all.
Channel 4's more "fun" presenting style, compared to Sky, has often been commented on as a strength. If Alex settles in and can chat enthusiastically, even conversationally, then he'll fit the team, but yesterday's style was far too jarring. Like being hit over the head with words.
I totally agree with on all points. I struggle to make sense of a lot of words he is blabbing out! He gets over excited for stupid things and miss times a lot of big moments! Also he is tries too hard showing off his knowledge! But most times the info. Sounds judgemental and even incorrect at times! What! Ben Edwards was no benchmark at all. Alex J is at least as good as Ben Edwards, but personlly I think he is far better.
Sorry I have to disagree! Ben was a much mature commentator! I found him very respectful and careful with his words.Alex gives me head ache! Feel like an empty drum. He just makes noise and not much meat in it!

I know its too early to really tell but my initial thoughts are he's not brilliant.
I agree with everything above - all a bit cheesy DJ - especially when he gets excited, that might be ok for the lower leagues but F1 is supposed to be the pinnacle.
I can't help CH4 has missed a trick not pairing DC and Webber - they seem to bounce off one another really well and I always liked DC's sly remarks towards the FIA etc, edgy without being controversial. - and arguably the strongest pairing since DC & Brundle....
For me the ideal Channel 4 Line up would be DC & Webber in the Com Box, monger with a bit more Lee McKenzie would be good and Steve Jones is good as the presenter.
Totally agree... DC and MW would make a great team. I also think BM has a lot of potential and considering some may say he is boring...I think he is very mature for his age and quite focused. He doesn't try to impress by over doing things...I would rather watch boring but sound rather than exciting but all over the place...I agree with everything above - all a bit cheesy DJ - especially when he gets excited, that might be ok for the lower leagues but F1 is supposed to be the pinnacle.
