Official 2021 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix **SPOILERS**
Discussion
I can't see an issue really as it is the same for everyone. Sometimes it will work out well, other times not. Hamilton has had enough questionable decisions against him in his career, including some that bordered on scandalous, such as Spa 2008. This rule is cut and dried and happened to benefit him today. Not sure what the purpose of the bleating is really?

How about the fact that it would take another 5 laps for everyone to get in the right order?
With 10 teams all controlling 20 drivers, simplicity is key. Either stay where you are or unlap yourself.
Sometimes you benefit, Hamilton being case in point today. There will be a time when Verstappen will benefit.
You’re trying to fix something that isn’t broken.

Surely is broken too... but you never said anything?

Lets say order they entered the pit lane was this:
1, 2, 12, 13, 14, 3, 15, 16, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 17, 18, 19, 20
On the restart 1 and 2 go
12, 13, 14 wait,
3 goes,
15, 16 wait
4 to 11 go
12 to 14 can finally move
15, 16 go
17 to 20 go
Where's the problem?
That's what happens effectively. Except for 1, 2, 12, 13, 14, 3, 15, 16, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 17, 18, 19, 20

Lapped cars are still a lap behind.
But which of those cars are a lap down after the re-start and why?

Just finished watching the highlights... Well, that was an eventful race. Lots going on from flashes of brilliance to mistakes from lots of drivers.
Only thing I would change is the DRS. Watching LH over the last few laps it was way too easy for him to pass - he came from miles back and just cruised past, no drama, no tension at all.
Anyway, an entertaining race. More like that please.

Enjoyed that, Max doing his job well with a bit of luck nobody passed him on SC excursion off. Lewis making a rare mistake then making the most of his luck by getting his head down and doing what he does best. Bottas being a total waste of a no.2 merc seat and getting taken out by Russel prob just saved his blushes from getting passed by a Williams. Norris put in a great effort today too. Should be a cracking season.

When was the last time Hamilton made an 'unforced error?!
Literally every race this season. He fell off in the last race and was just fortunate that the run off was tarmac so he could plant it and save his backside. If there were gravel on that occasion it would have been a comfortable win for Max.

I feel fairly confident Lewis and in fact all other drivers would have played it a little safer if it actually was a gravel trap.

One thing to note (just watching the highlights again), Hamilton had a 4.0 second pitstop and came out behind Verstappen 3.9 behind.
If Mercedes could get down to the regular Red Bull 2.0 stops he'd have come out in front.
Or 1.9 seconds behind..?If Mercedes could get down to the regular Red Bull 2.0 stops he'd have come out in front.
Anyway, when Bottas came in they did manage a 2.0 second stop, so Lewis was slightly let down but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Err no. They’d have to have done it in zero seconds for him to come out 0.1 in front! If Mercedes could get down to the regular Red Bull 2.0 stops he'd have come out in front.
I think
Characteristically great drive by Stroll today.
Only Hamilton can have a complete and utter mare and still finish 2nd with fastest lap.
Ocon faster than Alonso this weekend.
Bottas / Russell crash primarily Russell’s fault IMO, there was a car’s width and then some but he dropped it on the throttle.
