Who's going to Silverstone this year?
Discussion
You were just to the left of us !
Hope everyone is feeling good. The sun was a bit brutal and the dust/pollen was rife,
but wow, what a day. Thought it was going to be a bit flat after the restart, how wrong I was.
Just got home (18:55). Traffic was non-existant for us. Drove out of the circuit carpark by the start/finish without stopping and hit the M1 north, fantastic.
Didn't bother with the M40. sounds as if that was a good plan ?

Me? You knew from me accepting praise?! Wow if so, small world.
It was just busy. We left the circuit at 6:20, so maybe a bit later than you? Then we went down the wrong way on the slip road, just before it there was lots of cars stopped, so something may have happened

By 6:20 we had already done about 100 miles

My best mate is taking me on Sunday as an early birthday present, but while we were chatting about jabs/app/tests today he suddenly remembered he hadn't booked any parking so your post came in very handy
Pleased to have been of service Apart from this had a great day!

I was glad to get some parking booked but I wouldn't recommend this to anybody looking for parking in future as we appear to be staying the night here.
Apart from this had a great day!
Oh no, what happened!?Apart from this had a great day!
In all honesty I don't know the cause and it may not be entirely the site's fault. Some people we were talking to said they'd heard of an accident on the road heading away from the track, and all traffic was initially being sent in that same direction as they'd turned into a one way system.
However it was too much of a coincidence that about 20 mins after another half a dozen site staff turned up and starting organising the bottlenecks at the exits to the field and then out onto the road we were on our way on quiet roads. Prior to that they had one bloke at the main exit to the field who I felt quite sorry for because I doubt he gets paid enough for the abuse he was getting.
I'd guess we got back to our car around 6pm and after half an hour of it not moving we locked the car and went back to the track for a couple of hours for a drink and some food. When we came back seeing that the traffic on the road was moving quite well towards the A43 we felt quite positive, until we realised that the car sat in the queue in front of our car was the same one as when we'd left. It took 5 hours to get out.
But had a great day, weather was stunning, race was fantastic and spent a few hours chatting to some fellow F1 fans in a field

I saw online there had been an accident on Dadford road. that, and tens of thousands of people all trying to get home caused the nightmare you had. Really sorry you had to deal with that, but what a great day to be there! In all honesty I don't know the cause and it may not be entirely the site's fault. I've noticed over time, one remembers the day and tends to forget the traffic, and thus we keep going back.
Pulled out of our parking space at approx 18:45. We were held there for about an hour, but everyone seemed in quite a good mood. When it started moving it was slow but ok. Some respectful merging was nice to see.
I heard someone was badly run over on dadford road.
We got back to Gosport at 22:00. Tired. Day off today too so all good.
Mrs still buzzing!!! Great weekend.

They should rename it to e pistonheads stand by the looks off things!
Yea, day off today also. Sitting by the pool about to go for a dip! Annoyingly it’s only one of those inflatable 10ft ones, but the water is cooling, so I don’t cart!
Day was great, yes it was hot, but everyone in good spirits and being friendly. Was so nice to be with people again. Just got to see if we get COVID or not!

I know F1 is expensive for food and drink. But the prices of team ware is crazy track side.
The special lewis hat was £50 for example. On the F1 store £39.
I got multiple emails from F1 store online over the weekend offering 30% off site wide. What must add insult to injury if you purchased anything and got the emails from F1
You would think the items would be a fixed price.
