I’ve managed to pick up some last minute tickets for Friday so I can take my nephew for the first time however every car park I’ve looked at is fully booked. What are my options for tomorrow morning?
Park at Dadford Road, no need to book, just show up with cash. It's south of Stowe/Club and easier to get away at the end as well.£10 for Friday:

I'm home!
In all honesty I don't know the cause and it may not be entirely the site's fault. Some people we were talking to said they'd heard of an accident on the road heading away from the track, and all traffic was initially being sent in that same direction as they'd turned into a one way system.
However it was too much of a coincidence that about 20 mins after another half a dozen site staff turned up and starting organising the bottlenecks at the exits to the field and then out onto the road we were on our way on quiet roads. Prior to that they had one bloke at the main exit to the field who I felt quite sorry for because I doubt he gets paid enough for the abuse he was getting.
I'd guess we got back to our car around 6pm and after half an hour of it not moving we locked the car and went back to the track for a couple of hours for a drink and some food. When we came back seeing that the traffic on the road was moving quite well towards the A43 we felt quite positive, until we realised that the car sat in the queue in front of our car was the same one as when we'd left. It took 5 hours to get out.
But had a great day, weather was stunning, race was fantastic and spent a few hours chatting to some fellow F1 fans in a field
I saw online there had been an accident on Dadford road. that, and tens of thousands of people all trying to get home caused the nightmare you had. Really sorry you had to deal with that, but what a great day to be there! In all honesty I don't know the cause and it may not be entirely the site's fault. Some people we were talking to said they'd heard of an accident on the road heading away from the track, and all traffic was initially being sent in that same direction as they'd turned into a one way system.

I've noticed over time, one remembers the day and tends to forget the traffic, and thus we keep going back.

Had a great (if slightly warm weekend), also witnessed, after many races, my first big accident up close & personal. Max went anto the tyres about 20-30metres from us,, the impact was huge, silence fell for what felt like an age, until thankfully Max emerged shaken, but in tact.
I witnessed a big shunt at Silverstone in free practice in 1993. Mark Blundell aquaplaned off the circuit right in front of me at (the old) Abbey. Probably about 150MPH, and no tyre barrier or anything, just a steel Armco. Then, as he was getting himself out of the car, the two McLarens of Senna and Andretti appeared, unsighted, and darted either side of him. It was, for a moment, very scary.
