Also in the interview he said something about the Merc unit being higher revving than the Renault. As both are rpm limited I assume he means the power band is different, and the merc unit comes on power slightly higher rpm.
Could be a trait of the Merc split turbo layout or different compressor trims giving a slightly lower intake temp at higher revs. The Renault has been cited as being the most driveable over a race so perhaps sacrifices a little top end to gain some more torque lower down.Loving the new Turn 10, they’re taking huge speed in, then braking hard, running around the outside and taking the inside line into 12.
Brundle said his son’s sportscar was a couple of seconds quicker on this layout, than the previous one.

RB engines turned down and the sensors they ran in FP1... I wonder if they're worried about higher than anticipated PU degradation?
I know it's not unusual to run lower power modes on a Friday, but either the RB's are missing a huge chunk of normal power or somehow they suddenly don't get on with this circuit as much as previously. They shouldn't be anything like half a second off the Mercs here.

I’m not a big fan on Seb but would like to see him n the mix again so 10 !!
I'm a fan of his, but do struggle to believe he'll get back on top...But regardless, I'd at least like him to improve enough to remain in the sport for a couple more years. F1 need characters like Seb

If memory serves, he hasn't spun once this season, right?

Even Nissany beat him. M5-911 said:
Nissany is faster than Shumacher as well which I think hasn't done anything very good either.
But then does that show anything? A Williams is faster than a Haas, is that a big surprise? What Ferrari need to do, if they really want to develop Mick is get him in the Alfa Romeo for next year.
Let Haas become some sort of sad Mazepin appreciation society, with someone who finished 12th in F2 to partner Mazepin, so he doesn’t get shown up!

As you are saying, let's see how Mick develop as a driver. Fingers crossed, he'll better than Albon and definitely a billion time better than Marzepin.
