When I used to watch F1 years ago it was usually
1)Watch the first 10 laps
2)Fall asleep
3)Wake up 5 laps from the end to see the positions are exactly the same.
Last weeks race would have been perfect for that, it was utterly boring. I predict this race will be the same, same result as last week as well.
Also absolutely not true. At the start of lap 10 the positions were, VB=1, MV=2, LH=3. 5 laps from the end it was LH=1, MV=2, VB=3, so, a complete reversal. Did you miss the 3 brilliant overtakes carried out by LH, also the 2 by MV? That is 5 just amongst the lead cars.1)Watch the first 10 laps

That's what I thought too. Wasn't going to go down in memory as a classic but there was enough going on to keep it interesting.
I’d say that might be a measure of the cracking races we’ve gotten used too lately. There really was quite a lot going on. It certainly wasn’t a procession with ever growing gaps that we have seen plenty off. I think the bar is actually set pretty high at the moment,Hungrymc said:

I think the bar is actually set pretty high at the moment,In addition to the racing itself, there's been a good degree of technical innovation given it's late on in this era, and subsequently plenty of drama and tit for tat off track. The off track stuff is a large part of the draw of F1 for many, as latterly proven by the popularity of the Netflix series.

Exactly... F1 to real fans is more that racing on the track, It’s the interpretation of the rules. Get them right, getting them wrong... turning up with something no other teams had thought off, legally. The development race through the season. Ferrari cheating! Right now, RedBull... Honda calling it a day, RB to develop their own powertrain in house and recruiting 5 engineers from Mercedes AMG HPP at Brixworth. It’s more than just the racing.
I sometimes wonder if F1 would be better, or at least easier for people to understand, if they did away with the drivers' championship entirely. If that's the main bit people care about, they're watching the wrong sport IMO. Eric Mc said:

I've not got much time for Portugal. With DRS, there's just the one sensible place to pass (Verstappen notwithstanding) and these are normally undramatic. (Ok, so not last week) I thought it would be a lot less interesting than the previous two. I was wrong.
I don't like Spain, so it too seems odds on to be interesting, with the midfield battle shining through.
I'm glad to see you're back in the fold, E Mc.

It's there to be enjoyed, and I'm very glad you do, again

Impossible to fault your logic! The only problem is, an extension of the same logic would be that 100% of F1 arguments and upsets would be avoided if F1 was stopped... Derek Smith said:

Also since the cost cap, Ferrari are paid more each season to be in F1 than it costs them, whatever their performance. So the chances of them leaving seem relatively slim

Yep - it's a psychedelic mess of a circuit. How they manage to find their way around the place and stay pointing in the right direction is beyond me. If they got rid of all the blue stripes it would be a bit more bearable.
I play it on the F1 game and it is fairly easy to drive, except for Turn1 which is almost impossible to sight (well, for me)......aston80 said:

Two things are weird:
1) how often people complain F1 isn't like other motorsport series that exist separately.
2) these people seem more likely to watch F1 than the other series that offer exactly what they say they want.
If F1 needs fixing by becoming like other series, how come it's the most popular motorsport in the world? Maybe because so many people that don't like it watch it anyway
Your argument is flawed. Monaco is the most popular race. Is it the best? Nope1) how often people complain F1 isn't like other motorsport series that exist separately.

Same for F1. Either accept it for what it is or go find something you prefer. It's the same process as selecting a life partner or deciding who to vote for, only it's even easier to decide which motorsport you want to watch - I've honestly no idea how so many users of the F1 forum find themselves hopelessly fascinated by a sport they don't like.

The fact there's now a budget cap, sprint races and upcoming regulations to assist overtaking effectively proves I'm right.
When it's easy to predict the results of every race (give/take a couple of places) something is seriously wrong. Hamilton, Bottas and Verstappen have an insane record for the most appearances on the podium together. We're 3 races in and the driver's championship is already down to 2 drivers from 20.
I really want to enjoy F1 races and see great action. I'm hoping the 2022 regulations will provide this. For now I have to settle for Hamilton vs Verstappen and hope Red Bull can compete.
The headline is a touch misleading, and the actual quotes in the article don't help as Max is trying to make a complex point in his second language (his English is infinitely better than my Dutch, so not having a dig);
Verstappen: Nothing more I can do to ensure I obey track limits
https://www.racefans.net/2021/05/06/verstappen-not...
..but it boils down, I think, "I can't compete with a Mercedes if I obey track limits, and I don't want to slow down"

Enjoying the driver press conferences with the questions from the local kids added in this year, you get some really left field questions and answer!
Spanish kid;
“What do you like best about being an F1 driver
Max;
“Driving the car”
Yuki;
“The food in the hospitality! At alpha touri we get Italian and Japanese from Honda-it’s great! So yeah, definitely the food”
Max;
“If I eat like him you’ll have to roll me through the paddock!”
