Didn't spin though
Love the sky guys trying to help him out with "Oh there is a tricky new kerb there" ... then they show the replay where he loses it before the new kerb....

Obviously not representative, but he's currently 5.9 seconds off the pole lap of 1:19.675... That puts him outside the 107% rule right? When was the last time someone didn't actually qualify because of that rule? Or have they not really bothered enforcing it for some time...?

A third spin? There's been two?! I saw the first, went to get a tea, did I really miss another Mazespin?

They haven’t to needed to enforce it for many years now, with the slowest of the back marker pay drivers only usually 3-4% usually down on the leaders in qualifying - doubly so given that a lot of the faster cars aren’t running flat out in the Q1 session any more. It only ever usually comes up in the context of a wet qualifying session, or when someone has to miss the session altogether because of a malfunction of some sort.

Two things are weird:
1) how often people complain F1 isn't like other motorsport series that exist separately.
2) these people seem more likely to watch F1 than the other series that offer exactly what they say they want.
If F1 needs fixing by becoming like other series, how come it's the most popular motorsport in the world? Maybe because so many people that don't like it watch it anyway
Your argument is flawed. Monaco is the most popular race. Is it the best? Nope1) how often people complain F1 isn't like other motorsport series that exist separately.

Monaco is great for nostalgia and the spectacle but rarely does it ever make for a good race! 2008 maybe?
I really wish they would drop Monaco, it's just awful. The whole angle on 'glamour' is also very, very tired and boring. s-x-i said:
Not sure if its been mentioned already, but Ben Edwards commentating on BBC coverage this morning.
Is this a permanent role or is he just sitting in?
Over on Sky they’ve got Rachel Brookes doing the commentary, with colour from Button and Chandok. Is this a permanent role or is he just sitting in?
An interesting idea for the first session of the weekend, which by nature is quite slow and more analytical rather than action-packed. The conversational style of using a journalist, rather than a traditional play-by-play commentator works well.
