The luck Lewis Hamilton enjoyed during his career, and still enjoys, is unbelievable.

His switch to Mercedes was a case of perfect "timing". Helped by the new hybrid engine formula and the regulations regarding (the ban on) engine development in subsequent years, he unknowingly ended up in the most dominant car in F1 history.

In subsequent years tyres and technical failures, badly played out team strategy's and/or pitstops, it pretty much all passed him by. Bottas being the main victim. Even cheeky overtakings on Rosberg were not penalized. Deliberately crowding a car beyond the edge of the track seems to be viewed and penalized differently when Lewis was in play.

Lewis this season again proved that luck is a dominant force in his career. A completely lost race in Imola, after making multiple mistakes, was nullified completely due to a perfectly "timed" red flag. Russel crashed into, yes of course; Bottas. Delivering him a vital 2nd.place. In Baku he was again extremely lucky with Max getting a puncture just 2 laps before the race ended. Yet again....

It seems that even Lewis's luck has it's limits.
