Red's are being thrown for ridiculous things.
Wouldn't have made a difference if they let the session finish would have been double waved yellows no body would have improved at least with the red they get more time to clear the track
Yea it equals more quali time/drama overall. I can see why for the sake of 'the show' it's tempting to red flag.

Same reason they red flag races at the drop of a hat if it's clear a restart would reinvigorate the race drama.

I'm not sure if I approve or not. It's contrived, yet undeniably had thrown up a few exciting race twists.

May have been mentioned before (sorry, haven't read the whole thread), but if Bottas profoundly out-qualifies Hamilton will there be some discussion about the equality of the chassis (given that AIUI they've swapped chassis this weekend)?

Lewis doing one more lap than he’d have wanted to do on those tyres.

Not sure if it's a straight swap - don't think Hamilton has the chassis Bottas has been driving recently, though Bottas definitely has Hamilton's previous chassis.

edit: a bit of Googling has the majority of websites saying it is a swap, so I am probably wrong. Sorry.

Yes, they swapped. Lewis is running the chassis Valtteri ran in Baku, and vice versa.

Christian Horner was right - Mercedes were sandbagging this morning.

Either that, or RB had their new engines in qualy mode.

There is no qualy mode. They have to run the race in the mode used in qualy.

Probably true "sand-bagging" in the sense of running really high fuel loads...

Ha yes, true. They still have different modes they can use in practice though.

Or the old fashioned actual sandbagging, running a heavy car.

Brundle’s disdain for those AWS stats is palpable.

I've said it before, but it's worth repeating; Gasly is doing a stunning job - P6.
