Could it be possible that Russel will move to Mercedes and play second to Hamilton for the next two years (maybe less)?
It allows him to gain the experience of being in a front running car and Hamilton can coach/help him so that when he does finally retire Mercedes have got Russel as an experienced driver.
GR has already done what LH usually does - overtake Bottas into T1 and lead the race.It allows him to gain the experience of being in a front running car and Hamilton can coach/help him so that when he does finally retire Mercedes have got Russel as an experienced driver.
GR seems match ready.

3 internet trolls setting the world to rights, going against everything Button, Rosberg, Alonso and Verstappen say with experience.
The world has officially gone mad.
Over 17 years on PH and I think that is the first time I've been called a troll The world has officially gone mad.
What have the drivers you quoted said about the topics being discussed?

Weve seen this doesnt work
Hamilton was signed as a number 2 to Alonso....that dynamic lasted a few races, same for Leclerc and Vettel.
Id be more than happy for Russell to go to merc....as a brit its win win which ever driver comes out on top, and with norris becoming a little star its great.
Each time because the 'number 2' equalled or outperformed the number 1. No issue with brinong in a driver to be number 2 and discovering they're good enough to be number 1. Nice problem to have. Hamilton was signed as a number 2 to Alonso....that dynamic lasted a few races, same for Leclerc and Vettel.

Those mentioned above have said on numerous occasions over the last decade or so how much Lewis enjoys a fight on track, how much he enjoys to race others etc etc....if you really havent seen or heard that then theres no point in trying to convince you.

Mercedes have a tricky situation. Either Russell is going to cause Hamilton problems, which is not good for the team, or hamilton is going to smash Russell which is equally undesirable.
Really Russell needed to land a seat in a midfield team to a) develop and b) give mercedes a better idea on his ability.

Its often repeated but I'm also not convinced, there is not a single driver out there who is happy to be challenged by a team mate and Lewis is no different and when Nico was beating him he was crying foul repeatedly and their relationship totally dissolved. We've all witnessed Hamilton's behaviour when the actuality meets his rhetoric for wanting "close racing".
Goes all Diva with slippery conduct. Little wonder Wolff got him a lapdog team mate for his last 4 x WDC's
Does a leopard change it's spots ?
< Hamilton left the garage first and was at the head of the queue waiting to go out at the start of the session, with Alonso behind. As soon as the cars had left the pits, the team radioed Hamilton to let Alonso past so they could run to the plan. But he ignored repeated requests. Dennis even came on the radio to him, but still Hamilton did not comply.
Alonso was now at a disadvantage - he would not only have more fuel in his car when he did his qualifying runs, but he would get less back for the start of the race. He was shouting on the radio, asking why Hamilton was not letting him by. Then, he took matters into his own hands.
Realising he had been tricked, Alonso worked out a way to pay Hamilton back. >

name a driver who would happily comply with this new alternating 'fuel burn' strategy that Ron attempted to implement to appease Alonso ...especially one leading the championship at the time
If you read the article it says they took turns, it was Alonso's turn and Hamilton refused to play ball. Not really too different to how they alternate the Tow in qualifying race by race. Hamilton plays ball because Bottas isn't a threat.

they didn't ...as someone bothered to check with all the previous quali sessionsNot really too different to how they alternate the Tow in qualifying race by race. Hamilton plays ball because Bottas isn't a threat.

Give him the seat. Let it happen. Either he learns how to be a champ, from the champ, or he already knows enough and takes top place either in the standings or in the team.
Put him in the car and let the best man win.
