Mercedes' recent straight line speed. How? Legal?

Driver61 has made a great video on this. Mercedes is rear-limited and Red Bull is front-limited which explains the difference in the types of corners on the last two tracks. He was inconclusive on the wing. Personally I think it is the wing .. but you'd have to be an Adrian Newey or James Allison to know all the little tricks that give an incremental edge on every straight and corner!

Sorry but this is a failure of critical thought. You cannot take anything any team principal choses to say publically about their observations concerning a competitor seriously.
There exists a procedure by which a competitor can protest a car which they do not believe is legal.
Statements to the press shall rightly be considered 'noise'.
Some samples:
Nobody overtakes on the inside going into Copse.
It was a racing incident or hard racing
Max missed a single yellow flag (it was waved double flags)
His comment about speed differential is clearly a lie, the top speeds at different parts of the circuits are published, nowhere has there been that speed differential.

The speed differential he quoted was I think on one race lap, where Lewis was directly behind Max - with the DRS open on the Mercedes. Some samples:

At best, it’s a highly misleading use of statistics.
Peak top speed on the straight is an interesting stat, but is there any data for the speed throughout the whole length of the straight?

Your 'evidence' is all speculation. If RB had something substantial, they'd be protesting it through the official channels. Horner just wants Mercedes' car looked at as closely as possible to try and find something like the Brazil infringement that got Hamilton banned from sprint qualifying at Interlagos.

The trouble is, all the time the interviewers don't hold his statements to account, they quickly become established as facts by those who take what he says at face value and don't look at the raw data. It's tough for the interviewer because they don't know what he's going to come out with but I'd love someone like Brundle to be in a position to be able to challenge him at the Sky Pad or whatever. "Lewis was 27kph faster" "Where was that then Christian? We've got the times here lets have a look at the data...."
I have to take my hat off to Horner he's doing a terrific job.
Update: Confirmed - Lewis has developed a "Diddgerydoo-Duct" circular breathing technique to create a vacuum that he drives into. Hence the new, "tastes like fresh, but not at the price of fresh" astonishing pace.
Is there no limit to the boundaries that are pushed? Leaves me breathless!!
