Still think it's Verstappen's to lose, still no guarantees the new layout will garner any more action. I reckon it's Verstappen pole, Verstappen wins and a bit of a damp squib to the end of the season.
This is also my fear. I think if RB dial Max’s car in, he’ll take it comfortably. Not what I want mind. Heathwood said:

This is also my fear. I think if RB dial Max’s car in, he’ll take it comfortably. Not what I want mind. I've been thrilled watching Max get to this point... But I don't really want to see a dirty driver crowned the best driver in the world. Certainly not Vs one of the cleanest ever to be a multi WDC...
Watching the final round will be challenging and tense! I'll just have to ensure I'm entirely drunk before I take on that challenge..
Looking forward to seeing a whinging Horner on late Sunday afternoon after Mercedes take both championships. Expect Verstappen to have another big sulk refusing to congratulate the winner and Horner telling the press they had the best driver and car but Mercedes’ had a dodgy rear wing and engine.
Can you see him shake Totos hand and say well done and congratulate Lewis on being the most successful driver in F1 !

Lots of useful info as always
I'm another person who visits pistonheads because of Piginapoke's brilliant posts, pistonheads need to put him on the payroll. And anyway, what's the point of PH other than like minded people coming together in order to disagree

I truly hope they both finish! I've only got back into F1 over the last 3-4 seasons but have really enjoyed this one - at least the added drama is now properly fitting for panto season.
This one I think I may actually put my hand in my pocket for a tenner to watch live, shock horror!
Also just to echo the thanks for these threads throughout the season - PH's official F1 correspondent should be on the books...
A tenner? Lucky you! I’ve had to put my hand in my pocket for a few hundred quid to watch it live This one I think I may actually put my hand in my pocket for a tenner to watch live, shock horror!

Glad we made it through the season and everything is still up for grabs at the last race, let’s just hope it gets resolved fairly on the track, after all the shenanigans at several recent races.
The new layout should make overtaking easier, that silly chicane before the hairpin only served to space the cars out down the two long straights. The Sector 3 changes look minor on paper, but make the whole sector 20-30kph faster than previously.
I agree with the comment that Mercedes might play the strategy on this one, try and keep as much physical distance as possible between Lewis and his main competitor. The faster track might make for a two-stop race.
As others have said, thanks OP @piginapoke for running these threads all season.
Will be happy to be proven wrong, but just have a feeling max will clinch it on Sunday.
Even as a Lewis fan first and foremost, I wasn’t completely against max winning it at one point this season, outstanding driver.
However max’s upped antics have completely changed my mind on the matter.
Unless it’s max pole and off he goes, there will be contact.

Might need to revise that to show the short cuts used for overtaking. Sorry, I shouldn’t be contributing to the partisan arguments. (But it’s hard not to after recent events. )
BTW, I also want to thank Piginapoke for sterling work this season.

Guess which idiot agreed to a family xmas meal months ago, booked for 1pm this Sunday......
"December?...Yeah nothing happens in December...that's fine, I'll be there...."
Switch your phone off - actually off - and record it to watch later. Don’t even look at a radio or TV until you’re ready to watch it. "December?...Yeah nothing happens in December...that's fine, I'll be there...."
The alternative is to persuade your family to have the TV on in the background, ‘just for an hour’.
(As a student I used to work at a venue that held wedding receptions, and every year someone would inadvertently book the date of the FA Cup FInal - much to the annoyance of the bride, as half the guests headed to the bar at 3pm).

Mostly smoothing out the old sharp right-angled corners but they've also removed the two main chicanes. I think it'll be quite a lot faster than before; whether overtaking is possible is anyone's guess.

Listen to the chequered flag podcast on the Saudi Grand Prix preview.Horner spends most of the episode with them and is very complimentary about Lewis.
