Still it’s done, it’s is what it is… all sorts of things and incidents from the past get brought it, discussed and disagreed over. Max’s WDC* is just another one. Personally I’ll never agree with how the race ended from a rules stand point.
Well, indeed. There's precisely zero point in even arguing this really. It's clear to pretty much everyone apart from obsessive Verstappen fans that the race end was a travesty and Verstappen's 'title' as a result illegitimate. It's not going to get changed and the types for whom this is no issue won't change either.

Petty, and emblematic of the denial.

You think you are carrying a torch for the truth but really you are disrespecting even Mercedes Benz and Hamilton who have acknowledged and accepted the situation. They are clearly bigger men than you.

I am not arguing the rights and wrongs after-the-fact incidentally, I just think that the torch bearers for the alternative 2021 WDC ending deserve to be categorized with flat-earthers.

I've stated clearly and logically why the race ended before the last lap, it ceases to be an FIA race when the FIA rule book is not being followed.
By your own logic the race is null-and-void then?! Wasn't that my point all along, that forcing the issue means the race result is void, and attempting to confect an alternative result based on another rule interpretation and what might have happened is an equal injustice? This wasn't a case of the flag dropping early by mistake catching everyone out. What happened happened in the full gaze of every team and they had to deal with it accordingly. Mercedes chose to let it lie.

Everyone else should respect that.

WHEN? = the last lap is when the rule book was thrown out and the LAP becomes null-and-void. Lewis and MB won at the point F1 rules ceased to be upheld and the sport became a fiasco. This was a case of the rules being dropped before the flag did.

Everyone can understand and respect that.

You could be an exception? Pretty much all of the genuine long-term F1 fans I have discussed the AD debacle with have been appalled by what happened. As we discussed endlessly at the time, the two drivers who happened to be involved were not really the point. It's the way the sport was sullied to get a showbiz ending.

Indeed - it doesn't matter who you support, it ain't supposed to go down the way it did!

The only place it's festering is with you hehe

Why would MBS want to clean up a stain created by Masi and Todt ? Yes, it happened on Todt's décontracté watch. He has form for being slack on rules wink

Evercross, with respect to the reaction of drivers and teams to the Abu Dhabi debacle, There is a huge difference between simply 'accepting' what happened (which is what you have said) and the reality. In reality, Mercedes immediately protested the result, sought legal council and demanded an enquiry.

The fact that they turned up to the pre-season shakedown in February 2022 and didn't want to talk about 2021 does not mean that they think the result of 2021 was satisfactory. If they did, then they would be in a very charitable minority.

This pl*nker doesn't, despite being given an actual real live example of what happens when a mistake is made and the race ends early as a result. Not a "null and void" race, merely it ended there, that's the result. Petty and in denial, akin to flat earthers? You need to seriously take a look at yourself, because it's now widely accepted that it was a farce and that Hamilton won.

As said earlier, the biggest robbery in sporting history. Sulayem had time and space to do something but bottled it and seems to blame Hamilton now judging by his petty comments and actions toward him recently.

Contemptible.

He probably doesn't actually spend any time looking at his trophy. He'll sure as hell know he didn't win it properly though.

The good news for Max is that he'll almost certainly win his first legitimate title this season.

Max just did what any driver would do, so I cannot blame him.

Lewis was robbed, just the same way as if Usain Bolt was 10 feet ahead in the Olympic finals and was met with this AT THE FINISH LINE...

biggrin

and PH still asking if Prost feels bad about winning under such a controversial decision hehe

“CIVIL WAR OVER WORLD TITLE” blazed the front cover of Autosport. “Japanese GP chaos: Will Prost keep his crown?”

When will the salty tears stop flowing ?
