Good race so far, action every lap. Red flag with five laps to go, for what’s hopfully a quick TechPro barrier repair.

Quite a scary incident there, glad they are both okay.

Yeah, that’s a horrible accident to have, the car in front spins out, and you go the wrong way and collect it. Was a very sudden stop into the barrier too, hence the medical car being deployed. Thankfully they both walked away, the TechPro doing its job well there. Not too many years ago, that would have been an Armco barrier and possibly an injured driver.

Blimey. I think Martins may have just lost the championship.

Edit: Race not resumed. I think he still wins!
What was the gap behind him, two laps before the red flag? I think 3.5ish to the pack, so he drops two places?

Need to see an official result to call it.

Ah 2 places it is.
Or is it? They’re all still watching the timing screens, no-one seems to know what’s going on! More penalties potentially incoming too!

Edit: Martins confirmed as champion, but we haven’t seen the workings-out yet!

Lucky from Doohan there, very close to stalling it on the parade lap getaway.

The rejoining car caused that whole incident. That chicane…
Yep, he came back on with two cars on the outside, and didn’t leave enough space.

Another accident at the second chicane too. Seven (?) cars out.

Daruvala just cut right across the front of Doohan and drove him into Sargent, then just carries on undamaged - should be clear penalty.

That's not fair to investigate after the race - Daruvala needs to be penalised "live" so he doesn't mess with the race results - it's just stacking more post-race crap like the F3 finale (though that was unavoidable as the track limits offences all occurred on what turned out to be last lap of the race).

So the ‘No pit stops under SC’ rule was just for last weekend?

You see, there's a Red Bull livery on the car, so it will not be looked at hehe

In all seriousness, the stewarding this weekend has been garbage. I have a feeling there will be a massive controversy in F1 later. Particularly as these 2 chicanes are impossible to race through cleanly in these cars. Unless the overtake is complete before the apex.
Agreed - plenty of cars wheel to wheel being "eased" off at both chicanes.

Is a standing start after a red flag optional?
Think that's F1-specific.......may be wrong.

Real shame for Bearman that, if the race had restarted he must have been odds on for the championship.
