I'm going out on a wildcard win for alonso on the basis that the track might suit the Alpine strengths
Bookies have that at 175/1 right now so jump on it!

Decent virtual hot lap here which gives a good idea of the circuit. Runs off with be slightly different IRL obviously. https://youtu.be/fwvDwvDAi-A?t=7. Based on the track map and that video, turns 13-14-15-16 (1:01 in the video) look like an easy place to stuff it into the barrier. Big direction changes with braking and absolutely no run-off room.

Yeah I just hope those corners dont cause the cars to spread out too much, probably why there's 3 drs sections.

Cheers for that- I didn't notice the changes!

In other news, DRS zones now published (3 of them):

Good that they have put the DRS detection lines on the corner exits, rather than the entries. Should stop some of the shenanigans that’s been going on with regard to cars trying to be second to the detection point.

Or just play some old commentary of Murray Walker over the top of whatever's on the screen. Far, far more informative, enlightening and entertaining.

Entertaining maybe - and infectious. But Murray was famous for missing things and making mistakes.

Agreed. If internet forums/social media had been a big thing at the time, he'd have been roasted. As it was, he earned a fair bit of criticism.

What a ****ing waste. Original circuit was going to be near the sea front and looked really good.

Then some greedy **** decides to move it to a car park around his stadium just to promote it.

I hope they move it back to the sea front next year.

But a genuinely lovely, charming man who lived and breathed F1.

The key difference is that he HAD all the research and kept copious notes but in the heat of a Grand Prix he got so excited he fumbled.

Many of his gaffes were overlooked as he was so universally well liked.

Perhaps in 20 years Croft will be remembered as fondly... smile

Something that should not have been televised.

I’m all for it, F1 are actively chasing a younger audience and events at the track like this achieve great interaction with the folk there.

Despite Crofty trying his best to be a nightclub MC hehe
