He tested on the 11th of July, 2 days after the Silverstone GP / 3 days after Quali.
Temps a few degrees higher on the day of his test according to Accuweather, not sure about cloud cover though and therefore track temp.
He was reportedly testing 2025 spec tyres which are meant to be harder than the contemporaneous rubber.
Ergo, his time was really very good!?
So, what's happened since then?Temps a few degrees higher on the day of his test according to Accuweather, not sure about cloud cover though and therefore track temp.

Max, Carlos, Daniel, Gasly, Albon & Yuki?
1/4 or 1/3 is still pretty impressive either way.
As PRO5T kindly pointed out above, Max was not a Young Red Bull driver. He joined them in Aug 2014, before racing with Torro Rosso in 2015.1/4 or 1/3 is still pretty impressive either way.
The stats I'm referring to are for the number of WDCs the Red Bull Academy has produced. It appears, if we exclude Max, that just one WDC has been nurtured through their high profile "academy".

Mexico last year was great. This year he's clearly struggling more to get it in the window.
It is really odd how this seems to affect him more than others.

Happy to pay £10 for you to ignore him - although I think he's been banned anyway so I'll deny you winning on merit
I'm out and about, I'll make the donation this evening

It’s quite something with Dan, he did very well during his RB years, and the occasional good result in the alpine.
The only explanation I can come to is he just isn’t good at adapting, I recall during his alpine transition him saying he was struggling with how the car braked compared to his redbulls, and that he was having to change how he approached the corner to compensate, add in the battering lando gave him.
Think he’s just tried to adapt himself too many times and has now lost his strengths, too many team changes in short space of time for him personally.
it could well be neweys designs flattered his driving style, which would also explain his filming day at Silverstone, I’m more than aware the difference a different day can make, however it’s important to bare in mind here that the track would have been much fresher in terms of rubbered in, during a race weekend, than it would have been a few days after, plus you would have thought the engineers/ Horner, would be clued up with this.

He struggled initially at Alpine but soon came on top of it and was beating Hulk and now the shoe is on the other foot and there are people who think Hulk could do a better job...Yes, but like I said, I think he struggles with adapting, you get drivers performing from the get go who have been drafted in last minute, max won first time out in the rb after jumping straight out the toro rosso.
It’s reasonably clear that it was when he jumped into the McLaren that things went sour for him, he struggled all whilst getting slapped left right and centre by lando.
The taunts he gave lando beforehand and the massive difference in salary relative to performance of the two didn’t help with the media side of things.
he didn’t just lose “it” overnight, the constant battering, and changes he made to his driving technique have all contributed to the decline we see today, even Horner said he wasn’t the same driver when he came back

I’m no expert, and people in this thread have contributed in more detail than I’ll ever be able to, but surely the inescapable conclusion is that he’s washed up.
It’s been a long time since he could be considered a consistently good performer, and it looks like it’ll be no different at RB2.
An expensive mistake on the part of McLaren, I’m very happy for them that they have Piastri instead.
I wish him no ill will but I’d be glad to see the back of him if it means I never again have to hear ‘last of the late brakers’…

He made a conscious decision to chase the cash when he realised that Max was the future and had the measure of him. He chased the cash to Alpine, he shouldn’t have left, and chased the cash at McLaren. This will be his last drive in F1 and he’s a rich man.
Who’s laughing now .
I suspect as a racer he would swap a lot of that money for 1 WDC.Who’s laughing now .

That was a quick two week.
Sorry to see him go. The grid will be less fun with him gone, but I understand why.

I wonder how his simulator times compare with others’?
