Wouldn’t be sorry to see him leave F1, bluntly. The st eating grin thing has always grated.
Which is a shame because he’s always spoken highly of me
Can't say i'm really a fan myself and he spends too much time trying to be the joker of the paddock and trolling.Which is a shame because he’s always spoken highly of me
Hopefully the other teams give some new talent a run rather than Ricciardo.

How convenient....with McLaren joining Formula E next season.
I can't see him joining another Mclaren outfit (Indy, FormulaE, Baja)... it all seems pretty sombre in it's communications.. He's out of the family for good. Edited by Milkyway on Wednesday 24th August 23:39
If he was... they would be spinning the heck out of it as a huge positive win for whatever the sport / team he was joining.

That would have made McLaren’s Indycar driver problem even worse! They already have one more driver signed, than seats available in the team next season. There’s not a lot of F1 seats left, maybe Haas or Williams? Can’t imagine Renault want him back. Maybe he goes to NASCAR with Kimi, or to one of the WEC Hypercar entries.
I can think of few falls from grace as swift as this one. Depressingly , some posts seem to major in 20/20 hindsight , apparently convincing themselves , in our post truth era , that DR had never been much cop . But he was a sublimely gifted driver , and it's a tragedy to see him now as a mid field tugger.
I saw him in F3 and it was clear he was going places , and his Red Bull years confirmed it, as did Autosport's ranking of him . He was a charger , a great overtaker and never won a GP that wasn't a thriller.
As for his personality , it is not really terribly important - you judge a driver almost exclusively by his results, and not whether he remembers his nan's birthday. That said, his happy go lucky persona was endearing - but I will admit that his hyperactive teenager on a sugar rush routine was wearing a tad thin.

I think on balance the most overrated driver on the grid.
As some people picked me up for saying similar last time I'll clarify, not the worst driver on the grid but arguably the most overrated.
Even with the mighty Norris god in it mclaren still 5th best team. No doubt they built it to suit his peculiar driving skills.
DR has shown what he can do in a good car so I would expect another team to jump in soon but maybe with a less hugh salary.
With the budget cap and limited testing a known driver of repute is safer than some carlos fandango never driven an f1 car type.
Thats mclarens fate lol.

Mclaren are 5th by a narrow margin from Alpine who have two drivers scoring points pretty evenly. If Mclaren had a second driver who could score even half the points Norris is, Mclaren would be comfortably 4th. Mclaren didn't build a car to suit Norris' driving. We don't know that Norris has a peculiar style. Both Norris and Sainz seemed to have to adapt to the Mclaren. Norris recently said in an interview that he feels the car suited Ricciardo's driving style more than his at the beginning of this season and feels that the car is generally giving him the opposite of what he wants.

Mclaren got all the praise at the start of testing and then dropped right back after in the races.
Maybe chuck norris is so good that anyone else will look bad. Guess Piastri will find out next year if its him in the car.

Are you suggesting Ric will be driving for McLaren in Formula E next year? I cannot see that happening.Edited by Milkyway on Wednesday 24th August 23:39

While that maybe true he's never even been the best driver in his team while he's been in F1.
