So, he would say that Schumacher's titles are worth even less, given the support received from Bridgestone, the FIA and the absolute ironclad stamping on any chance of the 2nd driver challenging him?
I was gonna say, as opposed to not being required to beat your team-matelaugh

They talk of "boring mercedes domination" but there's a name conspicuous by its absence in the "most wins in a season" clamour.

Odd as Ricciardo is not known for his car development skills

Really only HAAS left now, with certain assumptions about Sargent's success in superlicence points. Who is realistically in the running, and have they hinted at when they might announce? Could they feasible test a few drivers during pre-season running and decide close to the first race? I assume there is a deadline for submissions from the FIA, however...

May not seem interesting on it's own, but wonder if that means Hulk to Haas?

Reserve driver role is now more about someone being available to jump in at the last minute to replace another driver. If it's a former race-winner, great.

Development work is done by the sim driver and that role is still held by Anthony Davidson, IINM.

Ah, I assumed reserve and sim driver were one and the same. Having both would seem to be a bad idea now there is a cost cap.

Development sim is at base, reserve driver has to be at the track so i cant see why they'd drop to a single role.

During a race weekend they'll have someone in the sim full time running race and setup scenarios with the data they're getting from the track, and Ant can't do it when he's on TV duty. That's why a team like Mercedes has multiple test/reserve drivers.

Driver salaries are excluded from cap - so teams can have as many as they want.

I had assumed that was just the race drivers.

Nope.. all of them:

F1 Financial Regs said:
(b) All costs of Consideration provided to an F1 Driver, or to a Connected Party of that F1 Driver, in exchange for that F1 Driver providing the services of an F1 Driver to or for the benefit of the F1 Team, together with all travel and accommodation costs in respect of each F1 Driver;

(c) All costs of Consideration provided to an Other Racing Driver, or to a Connected Party of that Other Racing Driver, in exchange for that Other Racing Driver providing the services of an Other Racing Driver to or for the benefit of the F1 Team, together with, all travel and accommodation costs in respect of each Other Racing Driver;
In the parlance of the regs "F1 Driver" is the drivers who compete in the races and "Other Racing Driver" is test/development drivers.

Why?

Hulkenburg has shown he is a good driver, but in other formulae only. His results in F1 are not good at all.

Hulkenberg is/was the current reserve/development driver for Aston Martin, and he was apparently talking to Haas.

I agree, his results in F1 were never great but he did a decent enough job standing in for Vettel in Saudi this year.

To look at it another way, Hulkenberg is at least as good as Kmag whereas Schumacher isn't (as yet).

I'm still not sure why you boot an improving Schumacher for Hulkenberg, whose peak we've already seen IMO.
