Danny Ric is apparently in Faenza and not on hols. Mid-season replacement for Nyck DeVries?
Cant see stepping into that car would be exactly motivating.Danny would have taken an F1 drive if there was one available, and is the fastest and most experienced driver on the sidelines this year. He’d have taken a WEC or Indy drive, if he thought his F1 career was over.
DEV is safe though, it’s not particularly surprising that a driver new to F1 takes a few races to find their feet.
RIC is likely in Italy doing media work.
Would he risk it? What if he couldn't keep up with Yuki?
Tbh he and his manager have rinsed a lot of cash out of F1 so he should have been willing to take a drive this year if it was offered.
Guess they both got used to big paypackets and refused to do something for the love of F1.
Taking someone elses drive now is not really that nice. Maybe he is trying to show he has the killer instinct.

Haas was available to Danny but he didn’t go there. From the end of 2022 he didn’t make a secret of the fact that he wasn’t in a ‘stay on the grid at all costs’ mentality. At that time he was holding out for a competitive car and a big paycheque. HustleRussell said:

Haas wouldn't pay what Ricciardo was asking.the-norseman said:

Better than sitting on the side lines. His stock was reduced by driving a crap car he couldn’t get his head around. Why risk getting into another, perhaps 7th/8th/9th fastest car?
He might go into TR next year. Can’t see it this year though - all risk, potentially no reward.
He needs to get his head straight - 6 months off isn’t enough.

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/ricciardos-alph...DeVries has had a difficult start at all these road circuits where you have to be perfect to not clout a wall. Odd as that seems to be what formula E consists of.
Maybe its the speed difference in F1. Hopefully he can show better at the classic f1 tracks and the richiarrdo fanclub can go back into hibernation lol.

It's not as if Red Bull haven't got a history of swapping drivers mid season if they think they are not cutting it.....Just ask Daniil Kvyat, Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon.
I think there is a very good chance Nyck de Vries will be gone in the next few races.......
