but the anti Naomi brigade and thread I find odd.
Me too

She’s a natural presenter, seems to get on with the other presenters & drivers and aside from Damon, Ant & Martin is the only team member with any sort of racing experience

I wonder why Rachel & Natalie dont have seperate threads though
Because they’re not trying to be something they’re not….. schiff is asked questions about how teams work and experiences she’s never experienced but thinks she’s an expert… sadly not!

Thread is mostly pretty gross, big trim since yesterday I note, but still- overtones abound.

I think she's great. She seems to have the knowledge, has a sense of fun about her and isn't dull like "he's only gone and gone out on meejums" Di Resta.

As she is fluent in French and German, I wonder if she works for some other broadcasters as well as Sky?

I was thinking French or German broadcasters. Must be an opportunity to act as a pundit in 3 languages and earn 3x the coin?

May well do something for the rest of the Sky group.

Yes, I like her - fresh new face.

‘Box ticking’ can be viewed cynically or positively.
Motorsport is trying to be more diverse and inclusive, and a large part of that new audience want presenters they can identify with.

There is no doubt she is easy on the eye, but she knows her stuff. I like her sense of fun and what she brings to the analysis.

A massive improvement on Di Resta.

I think she is good, much better than Simon and Natalie in my book.

The thing is though, she is not a presenter. She is employed as a pundit as if racing obscure tin tops and getting dropped as a driver from W Series (a series that wasn't overrun with talent...) makes her even remotely qualified. It comes across on screen too because most of what she says is just generic waffle with errors thrown in.

What irks me is that Sky are pretty blatantly treating her as the lead pundit, having her stood central next to Simon throwing questions primarily to her while Brundle / Rosberg / Davidson / Chandhok / Di Resta / Hill / Herbert stand to the side in the secondary pundit role even though they all have what Schiff doesn't, actual top level racing experience, when it really should be the other way round.

Rachel & Natalie don't have dedicated threads because they are presenters and both have considerable experience in doing it too. They aren't blatant tokens designed to fill a quota they actually serve a purpose. They interview the drivers & present the programming, they don't pretend to be experts though.

The hate is just oozing out of your pores. It’s funny that you even give a st about a young woman that is given barely a handful of words to say in near 3 hours and 3 days of F1 coverage. It’s for people like you that she’s on the telly looking beautiful, glamourous and making sense. It irks you and that’s just fine.

Just checked their post history - apart from 1 or 2 posts elsewhere on PH, everything else they've posted has been solely devoted to posting on threads about Jamie Chadwick, Naomi Schiff & W-Series for the last 2 or 3 years - they must have really got under his skin for that much commitment and dedication to a cause wobble

Looks like they even stopped posting during the closed season for F1 and then bang on time for the first weekend they're straight back to it wobble

My only observation is I think that green with white and blue chequered stripe outfit she wore to the Merc. launch would have been better if the chequered stripe was black and white.

Naomi Schiff is a weak pundit, along with Danica Patrick. Both seem eager to have their say but little in substance.

On the otherhand Jamie Chadwick has been great on 5Live. She makes points that only race drivers would know even if her experience isn't at top international level. At Imola last year she said that she could tell by the way Russell was driving he was about to pit.

I find Danica a great addition, a female driver that raced at a high level for years and did well. She wasn't Lewis Hamilton, but she had a very respectable career and worked with some top engineers in very quick racing cars.

I thought Naomi was OK at first, but she talks nonsense a lot and adds nothing for me, she likes throwing in the "as a racing driver" line a lot, which she really wasn't, she was playing at it compared to the pro's she is talking to/about.

If she stuck to facts, rather than making stuff up when she doesn't know, she could improve. She jumps in to questions put to someone else too often too, i dont know how Rosberg kept a straight face this weekend.

I hope she improves, because it's clear she is going nowhere. Rachel Brooks is the one that needs more screen time, she is very good at her job. Pinks i just find dull, but then i'm not interested in fashion or false eyelashes. biggrin

Of course you like Danica, but are not sure about Naomi. Predictable biggrin
