A number of drivers are now speaking out about this issue. The Merc is clearly the car that suffers the most, and Hamilton's more than Russell's, in Baku, due to an experimental floor he was trying, but several drivers have what are clearly legitimate concerns.
The point being LH over egged his ‘pain’, the team doubled down and then tried to use it as leverage to change the rules because they, as a team, aren’t performing. Classy eh? Mercedes need to focus on development rather than spin. Anyway. Predict RB and Ferrari out front, LH to bring a load of noise and get beaten by Russell. Not a great fan of Canada but it has to be better than last weeks bore fest.

Party mode - not one team (it was all engine suppliers - but one supplier had a 'better' one)
DAS - technically was illegal as adjustable suspension whilst in motion. Was waived through for one season on the technicality that it was actuated using the steering column. The FIA admitted as much that if it were a separate lever inside the cockpit, the system would have been illegal.
Let's not forget Flexi-wings on RBR, the mysterious Ferrari Power Unit infraction/settlement etc.
The major difference is that DAS and party modes were not illegal at all. Saying DAS was 'technically illegal' is just plain wrong. The FIA found it was within the rules the way that Mercedes set it up. If they had a separate lever then yes it would be illegal, but they did not.DAS - technically was illegal as adjustable suspension whilst in motion. RBR wings were clearly illegal all through the first races until they were required to conform to a tougher test.

Why then were they allowed to continue to use it? and for a full season? ddom said:

Within a day or two Lewis was posting that he should/will be able to compete.
I guess some would yank him out of a wheelchair to try and prove a point they are that "CLASSY"
I do know who IS making st up to suit their agenda...

Can you explain to us how you have such a thorough level of knowledge of Hamilton's back situation and pain level? Are you, for example, an orthopedic surgeon, a physiotherapist, or a pain management specialist? In fact Mercedes have come out in their briefing and said they thought they'd improved the porpoising and so lowered the car, which caused the bouncing and hurt their drivers. They have acknowledged publicly they pushed it too far at the expense of their drivers.
Also in saying they lowered their cars in Baku, they have also said they have been raising the ride height in previous races to try to overcome the problem just like other teams, even though it affected their performance. So that wipes out one of the arguments some were making that Merc weren't doing that.

Are they turning up the engines to be competitive now they are competing with RB?
Spain then Baku whilst leading? They must already be getting close to engine penalties,
Reports they were denied a reliability repair...

F1 does this time to time for some reason - release sata to the Journoa only. For eg the pre-race technical changes document - not posted anywhere on the FIA document repository but instead sent privately to Journos one of whom might post a screenshot. Not sure why they do it.
Yet you're the first to complain if someone is derogatory to Max...

But you've not posted the source?
Go on you got it from that reddit thread...
Interesting to see that Merc isn't solely focussing on the bounce issue

I thought they were legal as they passed the tests applicable at the time?paulguitar said:

Because if LH was actually carrying a spinal injury, or the medical team had a single doubt about his health he wouldn't be racing. Of course it has been overplayed, but that's racing these days.Either way I doubt it'll massively change the result this weekend.

Passing a test is not the same as legal. The test was modified during the season, not the legal rules, as it was shown the test did not test compliance with the rules. The fact that RB had to change their wing to comply with the new test proves the early season wing was illegal.
Yes, unlike DAX, RBR did not ask if their illegally flexing wing was ok, cos they knew it wasn't. MB asked if DAX was ok and were informed it was. ddom said:
