Has there been any update on the piercings ruling? That seems to have gone pretty quiet.
Kick the piercing thing down the road again probably, and keep kicking it until it plain old disappears I suspect.MBS looks petty if he wins this little stand-off and 'makes Lewis have his nose ring cut out', and he looks weak if he officially backs down.
It was such a stupid battle to enter into in the first place - has the man not got greater ambitions and things to sort out than drivers piercings!?

I actually have some sympathy with MBS here. The rule has been there for ages, enforced at every level of motorsport except F1 - and the F1 drivers failing to observe it has seen problems in other FIA series, where drivers have pointed to F1 as not enforcing the rule. This came up in one of the first meetings MBS chaired as President. MBS looks petty if he wins this little stand-off and 'makes Lewis have his nose ring cut out', and he looks weak if he officially backs down.

i dont, as the particular driver in question seemed to have been given the green light/ waiver under a previous presidents watchhttps://www.motor1.com/news/21992/fia-has-no-conce...
the time to enforce it was then, not now 12 years later ...& if you want to rescind that waiver, you do it properly (i.e AFER a full safety evaluation) & in an appropriate timescale (i.e blanket ban for '23)
to not do so makes you look, at best petty ...at worst- incompetent

To take a global look at all of F1 including its problems, and to start here...

Well, quite. It was such a stupid battle to enter into in the first place - has the man not got greater ambitions and things to sort out than drivers piercings!?

It was just a dumb fight to pick at the start of his tenure. He was always going to clash with LH over this and the sports viewers are generally going to have little interest or patience for the topic.

Given the choice of starting with drivers’ jewellery, or starting with your race director making the most massive fkup in front of a billion people, what would you choose? To take a global look at all of F1 including its problems, and to start here...

Or maybe I'd start a rumour about a South African GP..

easier than a mid-season rule change
Nothing much to say other than the fact I am really looking forward to this race. It's always great to reach this part of the season, where we see the 'proper' tracks which allow the cars to really show what they can do.
Silverstone should hopefully offer a very close battle at the front based on what we have seen so far this season. Ferrari should fare well given Silverstone isn't all about top speed (although there is a lot of time spent at w.o.t so let's hope it doesn't cause more breakdowns). We will also see the 'true pace' of the Mercedes (on a smooth track with modest temperatures) against the top two teams.
I think Max will win but that it will be surprisingly close, with inspired drives from George, Charles and Lewis. The only way Max won't win (barring SC/red flag jeopardy) is if a Mercedes or Ferrari driver is prepared to heavily sacrifice their race result by driving purely for their teammate's benefit (a la George in Hungary last season).

Current era racing drivers always come back humbled after being in older machinery, I doubt Seb will be different. Says a lot about drivers of the past and what they went through.I'm sure he'd prefer to be in the 92 Bennetton though!

Yep. GP of the season for me. I'm off to see friends on Sunday, so no posting on here. Shame. PH makes the races more enjoyable. Still, as a McLaren supporter, I'm sure my preference will be mentioned once or twice.Silverstone should hopefully offer a very close battle at the front based on what we have seen so far this season.
