A bit late for the OPs request, but yes, these two books are fantastic. Sid comes across as the very humble, unassuming man that he was. It’s a very authentic read as if he penned it himself which for a lot of biographies simply isn’t the case.

Great thread this, building up a nice ‘must read’ list thumbup
That was his authentic voice. I had many hours of conversations with him. A fantastic man.

Another vote for both of Sid Watkins books, as mentioned by others Jackie Stewarts is an interesting read ( I do agree about the product placements and the corporate side). Christopher Hiltons Aryton Senna As Time Goes By, I will go back and read that over and over again. I have the Kimi one, now the first time I read it I was "Huh what is this all about". As someone said above about translation, I agree totally. I gave it another try a few months later and it made for want of a better word "sense" if you get my meaning.

Thanks though for some recommendations Chaps, with Damon's and the Niki Lauda "good" one.
Update for you Chaps. I found the updated version of Hell and Back in my local library (if any of you are Cheshire based see if your local one can order it through. It's at Neston Library at the moment). I also picked up the Damon Hill there as well and I'm going to get stuck in to it. Now I'm not sure if anybody has mentioned this one but No Angel, The Secret Life of Bernie Ecclestone by Tom Bower. I have this on my Kindle, and I go back to it when the mood takes me.

One I'm reading right now is Richard Williams' "The Boy - Stirling Moss - A Life in 60 Laps".

It's not a definitive biography but more a collection of individual anecdotal chapters (60 in total - stangely enough) about Moss and his life. I like Williams' writing style and I've read a few of his other motor sport books.

Even later...but totally agree with this.

He signed my copy of Beyond the Limit at a British GP. Was a thoroughly lovely bloke.
