It does kinda highlight that Rosberg is given far too little credit for his ability. Seems he is night and day above Bottas.
Would have been interesting to see 2017-21 with him in the car still. Could have made some seriously close 3-4 way title fights
Bottas is one of the most precise and consistent drivers on the grid, he's a spectacular driver. Maybe at a technical level as good as anyone.

But he's not a 'racer', at least not at the level of F1. That's the difference imo.

Yet as he had to act in the way he did to win, and then was too crushed to continue, makes me feel that Lewis is not given enough credit for his ability. Actually the same is now going to Max for not fecking up this season...

I think although it is clear-cut that Hamilton was plainly better than Rosberg, the fact that Nico managed to get a title in equal machinery (albeit with the rub of the green) shows he was a very fine driver indeed. He certainly wasn't troubled over three seasons by Michael Schumacher, although we should of course accept that MSC was past his best by that point.

Has the BBC website pulled it's FP1 text coverage? Their "how to follow" page still lists it as starting at 12:30, and I didn't think Italy were changing the weekend, merely adding moments for silence, no?

BBC appears to have cancelled all live coverage of everything except the Queen.

Agreed.. it's easy to trash the teammates for not keeping up but that misses the point IMO, when you've got drivers of Lewis' and Max's calibre they should be recognised for being what they are - exceptional. During his time at Merc Lewis' championships score vs his teammates has been 6-1, that's a pretty crushing level of consistency.

Now I'm no Max fan - far from it, but I'm not about to deny that his talent is in the Very Special (TM) bracket that a few others over the years have been in, yes Ferrari have chucked away a significant amount of points and yes RBR have built a car that seems to be very quick everywhere but ultimately Max has been there to punish others for their mistakes and has made best use of the equipment too.

Special livery almost guarantees a balls-up (think Mercedes at Germany 2019).

But it's Ferrari. Guaranteed balls-up from this might cancel out the guaranteed balls-up of simply being Ferrari?

Tsunoda confirmed 10 place grid penalty, for accumulating five reprimands this season.

Yep - live timing only for FP1 and 2 ... not sure if they'll be more tomorrow ... had planned a run tomorrow around listening to Qualy commentary ...

This limit on components was meant to increase reliability (and sustainability) and reduce costs. But now it seems that the teams are just taking the penalties. Is the limit even needed now there is the cost cap?
