If I recall correctly Thursday wasn’t included this year ie it wasn’t a separate ticket. They let you in if you had a weekend ticket. There wasn’t much going on with many of the stalls and outlets still being set up.
Was still worth wandering around though just to get a beer and a Cornish pasty.
For £18!

I opened my iPad this morning after getting frustrated with the queue late last night to discover that I was still in the queue and had a 5 minute countdown. Managed to get 3 tickets for Sunday and the whole seat selection and payment process appears to have sped up.

£1200 for two adults and a child in The View stand.

Does anyone know a company that will book flights, hotel and tickets for European tracks ?

For 361 days of the year lunch options in the village are somewhat limited, so it’s worth saving up for!

1100 kms, through the night, in a Mk 1 MR2, after a full day's work. No sat nav. (or screen wash!). 50 hours drinking beer/espresso & watching loud cars….did the drive again in reverse.
Surely it would have been easier to put screen wash in than drive backwards all the way home

Ultimately I think they’re going to catch a cold on this.
It’s ok having a dynamic pricing model to encourage early ticket sales at the best price and to stimulate demand. However, you have to allow your customers a reasonable opportunity to take advantage of your opening prices. The move to this new ticketing provider who clearly could not cope with the volume of on line traffic and created a waiting time of 6 or more hours and an unstable link to the payment process is what caused the issue.
The circuit knew what the expected level of demand was as they themselves stated that 200,000 people had registered for the pre release notification e mail. Straight from the off the system could not cope and there were 25,000 people in the queue for tickets.
An earlier poster on this thread said he worked with these types of systems and that it’s not beyond the wit of man to build one that can cope with that level of traffic.
Unfortunately it smacks of the usual Silverstone malaise that “nearly good enough is good enough” and that it’s ok to cut corners and save a few quid here and there.
They’re now in a situation where they’ve put prices up across the board - the least expensive grandstand is now £400 for 3 days - but the early surge of demand will tail away and they are going to be left with a lot of unsold seats at very high prices.
I’d not be surprised to see them start discounting in the New Year to try and get bums on those seats.
In the meantime they’ve royally pi55ed off a lot of loyal customers who won’t forget this and will look to go elsewhere next year.
If the sites to be believed they do seem to be selling out grandstands and GA all gone (£319!)

The problem may be a couple of years down the line, F1 seems to be supercurrenttrendy right now but fashion is fickle, and when it's current five minutes are up theyll find the long serving race attendees will have broken the habit.

What a ludicrous price to pay to watch a race.

It is…. But those were some of the cheapest left. £670 each for the Hamilton straight. All high £300s to £500s now is all that’s left.

The place has gone mad, in the queue all night only to be greeted with this:

I enjoy the weekend but nay chance at those prices!

So can you move around to alternative (none stand) viewpoints to take photos etc? Or do you know just get access to your stand during sessions?

I'm setting my sights on zandvoort next year. I think it'll be a lot of fun and I suspect overall cheaper and more pleasant. I'll pack an orange t-shirt so I can get back out safely if it goes tits up for max...

Quite fancy Red Bull ring and making an epic road trip out of it, Spa is secured for another year so that's an option. At Silverstone's prices I'd rather do Monaco again and make a holiday out of it.

That's my thinking. A week on Europe, three days at one of the circuits. They're all in fairly nice settings to explore and have some decent food and nights out too.

Might be my first Europe road trip in the EV too so the travel costs will be very modest.

As an all-round experience that sounds better value to me than hassle and expense of getting to Silverstone for a few nights. I'm pretty sure I could have driven to Spa and back in the time it's taken some folk to fail to buy a Silverstone ticket!

Really enjoyed Monza last weekend, but did feel like i'd been absolutely pillaged for money by F1.

Would've loved to go to Silverstone, but I just can't get close to justifying the prices for F1 anymore.

Yep. Wait ‘til all the Netflix fans move on and things will return back to normal.

The main issue with their exploitation pricing policy is that it doesn’t account for creating the future fans. Teenagers will struggle with these prices and taking kids to these events is just ruinous.

On one hand I can understand them taking advantage of the current demand but there is a happy medium in being loyal to your original fan base and long term view.

Having met sooo many people new F1 due to Netflix they have a very different mentality in expecting rivalry and action all through every race that I have no idea what the crowd and atmosphere would be like anymore. If you are paying sky high prices and being part of a crowd who don’t fully understand the sport or want to boo at the opposition it doesn’t hugely appeal. I’m sure it won’t last long but I could be wrong.

The good maybe that the lower tiers of motorsport benefit from increased crowds. It would be interesting to know from anyone if there is any evidence of that.
