I'd be stunned if any Travelodge room would top out at more than £500 even with some extreme surge pricing algorithm factored in. £8k is completely off the wall. Central London on New Year's Eve is £250!

I would agree that Silverstone have played a blinder here, those £99 season passes are as close to free money as they can get (they don't need spectators at club events anyway) and I'm sure they will sell thousands of the things in future years now.

If the venues sell out Liberty are happy, looks great on telly which in itself generates more demand.

Any chance of knowing the name of the company your “friend” works for. I’m guessing it’s something like Ineptitude Events Ltd. If he/she can’t spot that £8k for 3 nights in Northants is a load of baloney then I pity their clients.
Of course everything you posted late last night could have been complete ste as you’d not bothered to do your research. Yet more fibs?
On the subject of which, next years British GP is costing less than a weekend at the Abu Dhabi GP. I know you encourage me to get out more so I’ve done both.
Stay off the alco pops Luke and don’t post ste when you get home.

I think it might look a little better if you stopped swearing, it just makes you look bitter, overly sensitive, annoyed and other words I cannot use.

It was a simple post (where I admitted its faults) that has, as usual enflamed you as you feel obviously a little sensitive about spending so much money! I would too, don't worry, it'll be fine.

And please, be rude about me, it is water off a ducks back, but don't be rude about my friends and people you know absolutely nothing about, it only makes you look even more bitter, why would they lie? What is there to gain?

Oh Wolfie, you spend your time berating strangers on the internet for not understanding the meaning of value or when”the people” are being ripped off. Yet when one of your friends, a professional in their field can’t spot that £8k for 3 nights in Northants is complete bullste you are either
A, a very good friend or
B, a complete idiot.
Based on your posting on this and other threads I’d vote B. A complete idiot..
You really are a sad, lonely little man. And deservedly so.

Btw - Lionel Ritchie in Abu Dhabi was awesome

A million pounds no doubt

Likely for the very richest I would think, Paddock Cub people and probably very VIP guests of teams.

Oh Diddled I did nor read your reply, I would not deem my eyes worthy of numbers, I bore of it. Bye

All accommodation prices rise when major event are on in their area, it’s not just for the GP, personally I’ve been to the British GP twice, the atmosphere was great, this was Lewis verses Seb years, so lots of panto booing and cheering as they went past on track, no desire to go again soon, again, just personal choice, I hope those that are going have a great time.

I managed to get a pitch booked, Silverstone Farm. Sadly missed out on this first allocated pitches so no free shuttle bus to the circuit but I’m happy to walk.

Goodwood have just upped their 'lower' membership tier to £79 which gives access to tickets earlier, access to buy tickets to the Members' Meeting and test days amongst other perks (it was set up to monetize the full membership waiting list, but is well beyond that now and in fact doesn't even automatically put you on the waiting list!) Very much the way of the world these days, everything is on an annual subscription.

I've no doubt Silverstone have made a sound financial decision with very few downsides when it comes to their membership system...and others will soon follow.

It’s not that far. 30 mins max to the gate by Copse. Plus you’re 10 minutes from the pub.

Like has been suggested earlier and I accept that I’m going have to take some laughs at my expense after starting a thread on how ridiculous the £99 thing was, I will be doing it next year!

My tickets cost £40 more each by the time i got to buy them making the membership “only” £20 which would probably be made up in time lost trying to get the damn tickets and gift shop.

Well done Silverstone you’ve played a blinder.

You cannot argue with the system, it is a very easy way to make very easy money out of people who maybe are easily swung.

If there is anyone to blame or whatever in this whole deal it is the people spending the money, on everything, tickets, camping, parking, hotels, the whole lot.

And the issue there, is not personal, it is about the precedent you are setting for everyone in the future, the bubble will burst eventually I don't know what the ceiling might be, maybe when the cheapest ticket is 200 quid a day or the weekend cheapest is 5 or 600 at its cheapest,

it is beyond me, quite literally to understand why people do it, but I do not blame the venue for doing it.

I do though find it quite hilarious how people come on here and congratulate the place for doing it and have actually bought tickets,

That really does baffle me tot he core. Why not write and tell them how much you enjoyed being conned!!

How am I being conned?
I knew what I was buying and I knew what I was paying when I pressed the button. No one was conning me. It was personal choice.
That you can’t afford it or don’t want to go isn’t my issue. Add that to your list of issues.
I mean, it’s not like it’s an Events company was trying to charge me £8k for 3 nights in a Northamptonshire Travelodge was it?

Why are you so confused?

Why on earth can't an intelligent human being opt to pay a lot of money for something they really want and ALSO acknowledge that as business Silverstone are maximising what they can sell for confused

It's not worth it to me but I spend ungodly amounts of money on stuff that is clearly inflated in value or taxed beyond belief because I can, and because I want what is being sold and the price is set by demand.

Likewise in my business I tend to sell my services for as close to possible to whatever someone is prepared to pay - hence I have money for what I want to buy without moaning about it endlessly, welcome to capitalism! You can't fight it, you can however shuffle off and move to a communist country if that suits you better. I'm sure we could have a whip-around on here and buy you a one way ticket to whatever country you choose. I hear Syria is lovely and warm this time of year.

Is there going to be a 2023 "that was well worth the money" race topic?

I’ll make a note to start the “I feel conned, turns out the place is nothing but an old airfield and my £8k Travelodge room was a rip off” thread.

Being funny is one thing.

Wishing someone a one way ticket to a warzone is quite another.

You said it, and I am embarrassed for you chap. It is very bad taste for all sorts of reasons.

It's just a forum, these are just comments, there is no need to be nasty, or wish that sort of thing on people, but it says a lot about certain people to be fair.
