Yep, disappointing.
To be fair, the midfield teams have never been closer to each other, it’s just that there’s a clear gap from the top three teams to the rest, in an environment where cars are more reliable than ever and where the authorities have an aversion to rain.
Hopefully, the wind tunnel restrictions will serve over time to close up the field, but that will take a few years.
A good point about the rain - it has enabled great drivers in not so great cars to display their talents plenty of times in the past. The treatment of rain in the last few seasons has been very frustrating. No one wants to see accidents, but it denies the To be fair, the midfield teams have never been closer to each other, it’s just that there’s a clear gap from the top three teams to the rest, in an environment where cars are more reliable than ever and where the authorities have an aversion to rain.

McLaren have posted on Twitter this afternoon that Lando has food poisoning. They are expecting him back at the track tomorrow. The only reserve McLaren have on site is Nyck de Vries.
Could be pretty big for the McLaren / Alpine battle if Mclaren’s point scorer is off sick!
De Vries has had his seat fitting now and is ready for today.Could be pretty big for the McLaren / Alpine battle if Mclaren’s point scorer is off sick!
In a season of uncovering strange / badly constructed rules we may hit another one this week.
To drive in the race a driver must take part in a practice session, with this week if Lando returns to full health but misses Quali will they put him at the back of the grid for the sprint, if he can make FP2?

It would be interesting to ask an opinion of the Stewards, if the Sprint serves as a practice session for the purpose of this rule. In a season of uncovering strange / badly constructed rules we may hit another one this week.

Yes, if he’s in FP2 that would be fine, but I doubt he’d be able to use someone else qualifying performance, so he’d need to start at the back for the Sprint.

It’s the only way they can balance the car from the aero at the front, no significant upgrades for a long time (cost cap).It will be interesting to see what path they take next year, and if they copy the Red Bull rear suspension & attempt to trim the drag.

There were recently posts comparing the untightened screws on the wing in Brazil to the overspend for the 2021 season by RBR.
I guess they don't need much top end save as for the two DRS zones. But still surprised to see such a large rear wing, hopefully the front aero will allow them the Mercs to get the speed needed. But if Red Bull get ahead I can't see them having the straight line speed to overtake, still just too draggy

Don’t worry about it, we’ve only two races left so lets enjoy them.
I just hope we get a race. It's easy to forget now, after months of Verstappen domination, but at the start of this season, we had some excellent races between Max and Charles. It looked like being something of a classic season for a while. Diderot said:
