It's not Hamilton bashing, though, is it? It has been in the news recently and it is concerning Mercedes, apparently they are holding (or already held?) a meeting after Lewis's comments. If nothing else it is good for the team to get a reality check. A lot of other people have been critical of them recently, Rosberg and Brundle included. Toto himself mentioned that it was "one of the worst days in racing", being somewhat dramatic...

Hamilton's comments knocking some sense to them would actually be something good I think.
It's not the facts of the situation I am disagreeing with. It's the angle that a number of commentators take. The press, Twitter, commentors on here etc are running with this "Hamilton criticises team" narrative which is obviously just sensationalism. It is the beginning of speculation that there is a 'rift' between Hamilton and the team, Hamilton is going to leave the team etc etc. For some people, and some posters on here, Hamilton will always be at the centre of everything that is bad. It's a pattern than can be observed over time. The problem is the under-performance of the team, and everyone in the team is all too aware of that.
Oh, true, I agree. I am always trying to look past that, clickbait titles and all that.

Isn't Hamilton doing the bashing ?

Moaning publicly via the media is poor conduct and could breed resentment from within the team.

Honda's affection for Ayrton Senna was legendary. His prowess put Honda on the map with 3 titles in 4 years.

Indeed Japan loved Senna almost as much as he was loved in Brazil.

Here's what Senna had to say to the press at a pre-season test in 1991, when Honda had moved from a V10 to a V12 over the winter (which he promptly won the title with)

"I don't know what they [Honda] have been doing [over the winter]
There is not enough progress and not enough power."

Sometimes; a few well chosen words can deliver a rocket where it's needed. Not something to wield every week though.

Have you listened to the interview the quotes come from? It was a slightly leading question, and his answer didn't come across as moaning at all when taken in context. As usual it's certain media taking one thing he said and blowing it up into something it never was.

I think it depends what you mean by that; the difference I see is that he didn't call a press conference to moan, he merely replied to a question in a podcast. I do think his words were quite strong (talking about accountability), but it may turn out to be just what is needed to knock some sense into them.

Its reasonable to say he shouldn't belittle the team. But I think it's fair when asked he should call out the reality of the situation he experiences as a driver of the car. He has very clearly done everything he personally can to be the finest driver he can be - he hasn't even got the beginnings of a future family, he's all F1. If he feels that some parts of the team could push further than they have, I can understand his perspective based upon his own perspective.

The only problem is that the other team members might not earn £40m a year... Of course they don't. But Lewis isn't actually enjoying being a multi millionaire on a day to basis is he? He's still plugging away with F1 his only focus. There are very limited cocktail and shagathon holidays in his life, he's mostly just training and working on F1 one way or another.

I reckon you could reduce his net wealth to £1m tomorrow and it would have zero effect on his day to day life. He's making huge money but he's not playing with it, he's just being an F1 driver and that is a huge % of his life and time.

Lewis very much enjoys the spoils of his wealth built on his hard work and talent. He isn't a robot.

I presume it is because they had high expectations and instead have seen Aston overtake them...

He can never win...

Hamilton is fake because he always praises the team and doesn't say what he really thinks. I don't want a robot for a driver.

Hamilton is criticising the team, it's going to rip them apart, what an idiot he should be a team player.

Indeed. I have said it before, if Lewis came out and said he had been secretly funding a cancer research team and had now cured all cancers, he would be criticised for putting doctors, nurses and so on out of jobs !!

I agree, absolutely. I am not sure what his personal life has to do with this, but the first paragraph is my thoughts as well. He was asked and he answered, I don't think he belittled them, it is well known that they had different directions they were looking at and they chose the wrong one. If they didn't listen to Hamilton, that's on them.

It's a shame that it took this interview for Mercedes to call a meeting about this, rather than listening to him in the first place.

I'm not saying you're wrong, as I generally do not follow this type of bky bks, but Is there any evidence for this?

It was in the media last week, Mercedes calling an emergency meeting following Lewis's comments.
