Another race im glad i didnt watch live...was interesting upto the nonsense safety car then i just read the forum and didnt bother watching anymore
No matter what penalties or engine failures red bull they will still be 1 & 2 each race either by sheer speed or the fia creating fake drama to get the red bulls up the grid. Cant blame red bull they built an amazing car.
No matter how many times sky try to hype up mercedes and how 'the future will be good as merc are changing concept' the merca will be no where near red bull until maybe next season.
Was worried this was going to happen before testing where merc messed up and there would be no contest for 1st place...another season to skip through to next year.
Also love how netflix made so much drama about mclaren taken oscar from alpine and how they made nick de vries look like the second coming for alpha tauri it jesus....look at them two now.
Think some people are right our F1 is being influenced by netflix and american sports creating fake drama which all started from 2021..such a shame
Guess only danny ric is the only one smiling now or rolling on the floor laughing with his £20m worth of mclaren bank notes....

As Mike Krack says the rules say you cannot "work" on the car. Even if the jack was touching they were not doing working on the car.

Touching it is considered working on it. AM messed up there, what part of the 'Do not touch the car for 5 seconds' did the jack guy not understand??!! Idiot.https://twitter.com/SkySportsF1/status/16375371447...

Just like Zhou got a penalty last year when they lifted his car - https://the-race.com/formula-1/miscommunication-le...
Zhou's car was lifted - that is actively working.
Alonso was passive 'touching' - if that, and without a contact sensor can you conclusively say the jack touched the car?

There you go, however the FIA have up to 25 min to deliver notification of a penalty, its been timed at 30 mins..
FIA eh!
First year its been policed, Hamilton had a 10 sec stop front and rear jacks in place and off the ground.
If you think of the process of lifting the car up the penalty for touching the car makes more sense.
1) car slides into stop line
2) rear jack man tucks in behind car
3) car stops
4) jack man inserts jack until it stops (hits rear diffuser)
5) jack man lifts
If the jack man hadn't done step 4 he would be in theory slower with his process steps.
I suspect a clarification will come out in the future about no-one, or any tool being allowed to touch the car.
I don't particularly like the rule, but if they have concrete evidence of the jack touching it's a slam dunk.

There is a reason they do not put the wrenches on the wheel nuts. 1) car slides into stop line

It shouldn't have taken 30 odd laps to apply the penalty.
I wonder who went crying to the stewards & at what point did the crying start?
Normally I would blame Red Bull ( I have a pathological hatred of them) however on this occasion I don't see them being the guilty party.
Seems strange that it took the stewards so long to hand out the penalty.

It was agreed that touching the car constitutes working on the car, however the car wasn't disqualified because although the car was touched, no work was done...
FIA at its finest!
Explanation from Craig Scarborough as to why there's a penalty for not being in the correct grid position - the jump start sensors might not work.
