That 2021 Saidi Arabia GP was properly stressful. Verstappen had binned it in quali and was acting properly unbalanced throughout the race. I was genuinely relieved after it was over that nobody had been injured.
Yep, it was a massive relief at the end of that race, that somehow no-one ended up in the hospital.

I’ve never seen a clearer case for a black flag in F1, than brake-testing another driver around a 300km/h unsighted curve.

Looked to see Lewis was close enough to hit him before stomping on the brakes too...

IIRC he had to give the place back but meandered along the straight, confusing Lewis then he hit the brakes, he should have been instantly black flagged.

Max will drive himself off into the sunset and well on his way to a third WDC. No one can hold a candle to him at the moment; he’s just so far ahead of everyone else.

The rest of the field will be exciting to watch.

And to think, he was still "gifted" the WDC.

I think we could see a run of 4 at least. Hopefully one of the teams will catch up and challenge him. but realistically i think the only chance of a scrap up front is getting a better driver alongside him.

LeClerc or Norris for me. Ricciardo could too as the RB suited him very well and he also beat Max on points before.

Hamilton had absolutely no intention of over taking Verstappen before the DRS line. I agree it was dangerous but it wasn’t 100% on Max, Lewis knew what he was doing and could have easily overtaken if he wanted to.

Voted for Alonso as my heart want's to see Red Bull have a mechanical or a strat fk up and him get a win.

Head say's it's never going to happen and that it'll be Max on the top step, Perez 2nd and a Ferrari 3rd.....

I'm amazed you'd link to that thinking it makes Verstappen look better in any way.

Also, a reminder of the outrageous attempt to take Hamilton out which started the whole episode.

Hmm, well Lewis knew what he was doing and rightly so - why should he overtake before the DRS line.

Max was in the wrong, but there isn't a rule to say you must let him past, but only until your opponent gets DRS.

There were high stakes, but there was gamesmanship from both. But the brake checking was wrong so no one can deny that and max rightfully got the penalty.

Arguing the nuances with denials inbetween is just tribal garbage.

Where is the bait? From a sample of 3 days testing and one race, the RB is fast, reliable and had a lot in hand in the first race. Still 22 to go, but from the data available the RB is impressive, whichever team you support.

(I'm not tribal for F1 these days)

Even in a local club meeting behaviour like this would result in an instant black flag and usually exclusion from following events. Liberty wanted to keep the title open, so the debacle continued for one more 'race'.

Anyway, we've wandered a bit off-topic here. I'm looking forward to Sunday's race, even though the circuit concerns me a bit.

A grid penalty for the second race due to parts used is pretty good going.

Just shows the rules are a bit naff if we're at penalties on race 2.

Or Ferraris quality control. Only one car has gone through any of those parts as far as I’m aware.

Potentially another bore fest on Sunday but you never know, if Leclerc snatches pole he could make things interesting for the first few la.... Oh, 10 place grid drop for Leclerc. Never mind then.
