Oh yes. Imagine the excitement we’d lose from F1 if Vettel came back and took a seat from Gasly, Ocon, Bottas, Zhou, Albon, or Sargeant?!? Wouldn’t be worth watching laugh

I think Toto and Carlos will be having a few chats, they would be silly not to.

I think LH was only hired because FV has a working relationship with him. Another TP may not have been as keen.

7 times WDC.... okay... but why hasn't he destroyed GR the last 3 seasons?

This thread is about Carlos, but I think in the first season of the new regs, Lewis was given more extreme setups to try to counter the issues.

This year, less sure what is happening with Lewis who used to be the master of qualifying given they are into fine tuning rather than radical.

And there is loads of F2 talent over the last couple of years that could be given a chance. It seems impossible for all but a few talented (together with money, backing, management, connections, promotion, and stars aligning) individuals to break through. There isn't enough room on the grid, but it would be exciting to see a couple of rookies on the grid every season smile

Open question - who has enough superlicence points and is not currently in F1?

Seems the Sainz to AM rumours are gathering speed with a vacant seat arising

He's never seemed that into F1 TBH, it's his father living his dream through his son, that's how I've always seen it.

Always struck me as the promising footballer son with a dad who never made it to selection as a child screaming at the ref from the touchline... while the son really prefers other sports.

Yep, I read a few years ago his thing was Ice Hockey, he was very good at it and wanted to progress within that sport, I believe he is also very good at tennis.

He's always struck me as just indifferent in interviews, just not interested.

I think tennis was the other "pro" route he was considering. He's very likeable in some of the longer interviews away from the track.

Try reading what I said. I said nothing about excitement in F1, or watching it, merely that Seb needs a car of a specific type to be fast, the newer cars are not that type.

He wasn't criticising your comment, he was elaborating that your comment materialising wouldn't benefit the sport.
