I assumed the mercs went Black from Silver since Lewis was helping push the BLM movement, is that not correct then ?
I don't think he forced them into anything, he may well have raised awareness of an issue so it's brilliant when a large corporation acts decisively to try and resolve situations of inequality and discrimination. I am sure you agree.

Some extracts from the F1 website at the time:

“Racism and discrimination have no place in our society, our sport or our team: this is a core belief of Mercedes,” said Team Principal Toto Wolff. “But having the right beliefs and the right mindset isn’t enough if we remain silent.

“We wish to use our voice and our global platform to speak up for respect and equality, and the Silver Arrow will race in black for the entire 2020 season to show our commitment to greater diversity within our team and our sport.”

In Mercedes’ organisation, just three per cent of the workforce identify as belonging to minority ethnic groups and only 12% of employees are women. The team say it’s this lack of diversity that shows they need to find new approaches to attract talent from any areas of society they do not currently reach, and they have committed to announcing a diversity and inclusion programme before the end of the season

Racism and discrimination have no place in our society, our sport or our team: this is a core belief of Mercedes

Toto Wolff
“We will not shy away from our weaknesses in this area, nor from the progress we must still make; our livery is our public pledge to take positive action,” continued Wolff. “We intend to find and attract the very best talents from the broadest possible range of backgrounds, and to creative credible pathways for them to reach our sport, in order to build a stronger and more diverse team in the future.”

Not to dismiss the reasons for the black livery again in 2021, I cant help feel that this is a factor in why the Mercedes is Blakc again this year.

On the point of Hamilton making them make the change, I feel that Hamiltons exploits at the beginning of 2020 would of lead to the team taking a more prioritised look at the ethnicity of their team and how they can look to improve ethnic diversity. Although Hamiltons message was more politically biased, Mercedes took the route that a lot of other companies are taking in recent years to look to increase ethinic diversity, a more moral version of the same issue.

How was Hamilton’s message politically biased?

He wore a BLM T-Shirt and so is now a card-carrying Comminist apparently. It's all in this thread about a month or so back.

Yep, I know... Hamilton, the multimillionaire F1 racing driver is a hardcore Marxist, anti-capitalist. Ridiculous isn’t it....

Someone pops up now and then, outraged but I’ll informed.

I think you mistake me for someone who is a Hamilton hater, of which I am not.

My point was mainly about Mercedes supporting Hamilton but in a less focussed and more corporate manor. If my wording was slightly off then i apologise, its a shame that in this thread people are so quick to jump to guns as too many people want to bring Hamilton down.

If this response is to me... I was simply asking the question, I was curious re how you see Hamilton’s stance as politically biased.

The Russell/ Bottas accident in Imola, put into context the overtakes he did there, to claw his way back to P2.

Passing Leclerc and Norris looked straightforward but required skill and experience.

His first overtake on the outside of Verstappen was very good, this was further highlighted on his overtake of Bottas on the outside where Bottas was in the same position on the road as Hamilton and Brundle commented about the angles and making the corner.
