He was in the gravel at Imola and got lucky laugh
You must really dread Sundays.
Makes the enjoyment of a great LH drive all the better.
Another good win and excellent drive.

Hammer time just fantastic to watch.

I don’t know what more Lewis can do to be considered GOAT ?

A driving masterclass.

Yeh those overtakes to get back to second were real lucky laugh
The over takes to get to 2nd wasn’t the lucky part. Being a lap down then getting a FSC was the lucky part I think we would all agree on.

No doubt that was lucky. Sometimes you’re on the lucky end of those incidents, sometimes you’re on the unlucky end...thinking safety car and red flag in Italy last year.....again though, as I said, 4 great drives

I always remember Schumacher being a lucky son a gun.

I think it evens out over the course of a career. Also, as someone once said, 'the more I practice, the luckier I get'.

Hamilton at his current level of performance is above anything I've seen since starting to watch F1 in the 1970s. It's an honour and a privilege to be able to watch.

He had plenty of luck....plus subservient teammates and some questionable driving....

He creates his own luck: if he hadn't had the presence of mind & skill to safely extract the car from the gravel then the rest wouldn't have made any difference.

As was pointed out earlier today in the commentary, it was five years ago at Barcelona that Lewis and Nico crashed into each other.

What wasn’t mentioned, was that that incident five years ago was the last time Lewis crashed out of a race!

With 100 poles and 98 wins, does anyone not now think he’s the big Billy GOAT? bow

Iam a Max fan through and through but conceded to the fact the Lewis is the greatest of all time and i'm sure that before he retires he will be on at least that 8th world title.

My guess most people won't see this until years after he retires and we refer back to him comparing him to whatever driver is winning WDC then like they do now with Senna or Schumacher for example.

I was thinking exactly the same thing tonight - it will probably take 10 or 20 years to sink in.

I also think that his brilliant work on racial equality will cement his reputation.

You never know, when he finally retires he could come back a few years later following in the footsteps of other world champs... Alonso, Schumacher, Kimi, Prost, Mansell, Lauda

Imagine the excitement if that ever happened........everyone would be like the Legend is back.

Nico added this in his "how to master Spain" video last year: laugh

Nothing's impossible, but I seriously doubt it: he has nothing left to prove, I think he'll stop when he's had enough & happily do the other things he's interested in. He's been quite canny in cultivating that, so if & when he & racing inevitably separate, he's not left in a vacuum.

I can see him in a role similar to Jackie Stewart, which would be somewhat ironic: I'm sure F1, Mercedes & his sponsors would hate to lose him completely.

I would say to make the point beyond argument he would need to continue his current fantastic form and win an 8th DWC

Tbh it wasn’t until schumacher retired for the first time that I realised what a big hole he’d left in F1. After years of hating him because I was always a fan of Hill, I suddenly realised the talent that was now missing.

I’m determined not to do that again, so while the Hamilton/ Mercedes era can at times be boring, I appreciate it massively, just as I will appreciate Max or other drivers when they execute a brilliant race.

Seeing any sportsperson or team execute at the highest level under massive pressure is incredibly impressive and should be savoured

Well said. Completely agree.
