RE: PH Sunday Service: Aston Martin St Athan 09/04
Discussion
Cheers for sorting this out Jack - the family really enjoyed it (despite the 4 year old having to get up before the sun). No queue when we arrived at 750, drove straight in. Good food, lovely cars (inside and out), great weather!
Felt a bit guilty when we left as I asked what the big queue of cars was for at 1050, and was told it was to leave at 11am. We packed everything up as quickly as we could and drove around to meet it, but were guided into a second queue alongside the first, almost at the front, and then they let us out first.
I didn't get to try the two simulators that were on display, but they both looked as though they were set up pretty well (rfactor on both from the looks of things) - queues for those were almost as long as the queue for the amazing balloon animals!

This was my first Sunday service (mine was the red Mazda 3 mps) , and what one to do! great weather, an awesome collection of ph cars and some real special treats from Aston Martin with the Vulcan and the gt3/lmp cars!
I look forward to the next one now!

What a day!
We arrived at 7.55am and had no wait to get in. We left at 5am after a 4.30am start and did around 320ish miles, but it was more than worth it. And actually, arriving at 8am meant you got to have a proper look around without it being busy, and got food without a lengthy wait, so it worked out really well in my opinion.
Ended up moving my car to be alongside the other Z's after the first batch of people left, so hi those guys I briefly spoke to (you had the white 370, mine was the black one).
The selection of cars, both inside an out, alongside the sheer epicness of the venue made for one of the best car related days out I've had for some time, bravo PH, Jack and the team.

Jack, how was the biscuit stash looking by the end of the morning and how many friends do you have today?
As has been mentioned, fantastic morning out, thanks guys. Weather couldn't have been better and a lovely blast up. Enjoyed the PH variety as ever and the Aston contribution was excellent, lots of photos taken.
Loved seeing these two back to back, tried for an arty farty shot!
It seems Aston caused more of an issue than needed last week, in terms of arriving, as other than a slight queue there was no issue getting in. On leaving, I enjoyed being part of one of the best queues I've seen for a while!

What a day, huge thanks to PH for organising and AM for letting us tag along, amazing cars all around in an amazing location. The 5AM start was well worth it, and I thought the whole thing was pretty well organised including the getting in and the getting out. I never knew getting a police escort through a military base was on my list of things to do but I'm pretty glad it's been crossed off!
I have some pictures from the day I'm editing this evening, and will post some of my favourites here (P.S. What's the best way to do that - upload elsewhere and embed in a post or do directly?)

Unfortunatley not, mine's an older one (hatch with a boot type) that was left at home in favour of my wife's comfy XF diesel - a bit less power and more weight and torque......and a nice comfy mile-muncher. It's a little quirky with its black pack and red leather, but not exactly PH-worthy, but I'm getting on a bit now and appreciate the comfort :-)Will have to leave my remaining masculinity at home next time and venture out in the little MGTF with its flip-flop paint of pinky-bluey-purpley-gold.
I'm really pleased that there has been no mention of bad (driving) behaviour this time, however, not far from the venue on the B4265 between Cardiff Airport and St Athan at 08.10 this tw*t pretty much attached his car to my bumper. We could not believe how close he was. After a mile or so he did a ludicrous overtake into the path of oncoming traffic before attaching himself to the rear of the Audi S1 in front of us, the driver of which we met at St Athan for a de-brief (along with the guy with the Carrera S who was in front of him). He did the same to them before dissapearing. Maybe a local 'hero' with something to prove or is he one of us? Anyone know or did anyone else see him?
In the photo the bright yellow S1 can't really be seen because this guy is so close to it.
We all like cars and speed or we wouldn't be on Pistonheads but most of us like an element of safety with it too!

Left at 4:15 to make sure of the 8am crossing of the runway to make sure of max time there. Was third car to arrive but did not have to cross any runway at all. Checked to see if had to leave at 12 to get over runway because wanted to stay longer. Told to leave at 12 to get over runway.Unless the runway has a speed hump on it i still do not recall going over runway, went through the camp with police escort . Was the runway thing just to get the cars more staggered through out the day. I don't care just glad to have spent what time i did there could have stayed all day but thanks to A.M. and A.M.O.C. for letting us gate crash the day, also P.H. for getting us in.Fantastic time had thanks to all.
