Hey folks, need a realistic time on this, I don't trust googlemaps etc!
Friday night, leaving at about 7 from Junction 10 of M25, how long is it going to take me?
At the risk of being obtuse... how many miles is it, and how fast are you willing to travel? Factor in a urination/hydration break if applicable and bingo. If it's Friday night as in post rush hour I imagine you'll manage almost any speed you (legally) want.Friday night, leaving at about 7 from Junction 10 of M25, how long is it going to take me?

How long is a piece of string? My favourite route when I used to do London -> NW England a lot was M1 -> A50 -> M6 so avoiding Birmingham entirely. ~4 hours was my best time to Lancaster (IIRC), so add another hour to Carlisle.
^The A50's a good road. (well, it used to be when I had to use it)
I did Kentish Town to Lockerbie on Friday night in a minibus limited to 62mph with 9 girls on board.
We stopped twice, for about 15 minutes each time. It took 6:45, but we had a reasonably easy trip out of London. M1 - M6.
We came back M6 - M40, and it took about the same, with similar breaks.
It really depends on how easy you get clear of London. After that we had no hold-ups, apart from a bit of traffic on Sunday on the M6.

Surbiton'ish start?? When I used to do the Lancs run I'd head off through Hampton Court for the M3 to the M25, up the M40/M5/M6 though that was before the toll went in
It used to take 3 1/2 hours to get to Preston area on an average run, I cant see it being more than 5 hours to Carlisle

Will depend, are you going to stop for a break or something to eat? As that can easily take 20 min to an hour.Friday night, leaving at about 7 from Junction 10 of M25, how long is it going to take me?
Suspect it'll be busy as you get near Carlisle due to R1. And of course if you hit traffic elsewhere.
5.5-7 hours isn't unreasonable I'd have thought.
