I'm guessing the garage is not a VW main dealer, and if they're suggesting you take it up with the warranty people, I'm also guessing the warranty is one of these independent Warranties Direct type.

If that is the case I'd recommend going to a proper VW dealer, with proper VW trained technicians, get them to speak to the warranty people, and proceed to do the work and claim it back.

Its probably the quickest an easiest way to get it sorted properly once and for all.

Good luck.
Nah, it's a relatively small "family-run" business.

The closest VW dealership to me is about 10/15 miles away - but I'd be happy to drive there...
I think I might just pop down tomorrow and see what they say about it.
Can't hurt to enquire!

I can't bear to give my car away to them for another 2 days without a courtesy car (I'm only 23, so they won't give me one...).
This is a heap of ste - I got given a courtesy car by a Ford main stealer at 23 (last year) with no hassle at all. Tell them to sort out their insurance policy.
My local dealer gave me a courtesy car as I was over 21. The time before I was under 21 so too young for their insurance, they gave me the reg of the courtesy car and I had to arrange daycover myself, either way a cc shouldn't be a problem.

Good luck `proxy`. Really hate to see/read posts like this, just goes to prove that it`s not only the government that is shafting the motorist on a daily basis.
Reason I said about making sure the warranty covers full cost is that I once got shafted big style by a car supermarket, swmbo bought a Laguna auto and after only 6 weeks the gearbox found the self-destruct button, cost me £1500 and the wattanty people wouldn`t pay more than £500.

If the closest VW dealership is one that you may or may not have mentioned earlier in the thread - PM me for details before you do so!

Thanks for the heads up mate.
This is actually my second car.. my first was bought from my Girlfriend's Uncle - so this is my first time using a dealership ... to be honest, it's put me right off.
