I usually use these guys www.amkselfdrive.co.uk - good vans and very reasonably priced.

If only there was some sort of interconnected network of computers... van hire companies could have their computers accessible so you could find out how much they charge.

Or failing that someone could make a big book with all the van hire companies' phone numbers in. You could make the pages yellow, so it stands out maybe.

Try H&H van hire. They're based in Kentish Town. Used them last week, very pleased with them.

Get rid of the 'the' - "connectwork"

Both of those suggestions are stupid and would never catch on

Fair point. I was having a kerazy moment.

What's a van anyway? Is it like a horse?

Yes, a kind of horse that you put things in rather than on. You need quite a bit of lube though

Are you based in bristol as your profile suggests?

What you will find is that to get the cheapest rates you will normally have to look at local independent companies as they often have older vans and thus offer them at cheaper prices - we hired a LWB van for £35 for the day from a company near swanley, kent....useless if as you live miles away from the collection point.

Why not get it put on a pallet and have it collected and delivered by palletline. Did this with an engine from down south up to Manchester a lot cheaper and less time consuming.

I will have a look at the smaller companies. The national hire firms do not seem keen on my age and the one's which will do it seem to up the price as a result!

To the comments from the people who think they are funny. Do you not get bored? I came on here to ask a question not to have chilish comments which you have most likley pasted from another thread. Carry on going guys if it makes you chuckle then im glad it makes you happy. I just ignore all your pointless remarks and read the stuff i actually want to see.... Fell free to follow the trend and take the piss out of my grammer mistakes now

Yes, bored of vague lazy questions, I was being facetious.

However, asking where you can hire a cheap van from without even giving an indication of what area of the country you want to hire it from, how are we supposed to give a half-decent answer, the UK is a big place.

If in Bristol as someone else has guesstimated try www.sixt.co.uk or www.hire-rite.co.uk - hope that's restored your faith in human kindness smile
