SCRAP CAR WANTED FOR ENGINEERING PROJECT
Discussion
Hi,
I am a student at warwick university studying mecanical engineering and as part of a new Engineering Society we are looking for a very very old car to do up as a project in our own time. We have a very small budget of a few hundred pounds, and really have no preference over what car we would like or what state it is in.
If anybody has any ideas or possibly a car they're looking to get rid off it would be much appreciated it you could get back to me
Thanks in advance,
Hope-Elise

You could try this guy.

But, for your own safety, don't haggle.

I have an 88 RX7 EGI (non turbo). Details are as below which I posted on the mazdaroatary forum I am on (as someone else is considering it).
Thanks
Mark
Details:
Needs sunroof refitting (took this out as a test to see how it comes out). Sunroof was working before I took it out. Been covered up for a week or so, so as to keep any rain out.
Will try and get this sone at some point if I can.
Will need the brakes looking at as I had problem with a bleed nipple on one of the calipers. Could also do with some hoses as I originally took the old ones off (which were in pretty shoddy condition) for some RB ones. These have since been swapped to my other EGI.
No back section of the exhaust at the moment as I took off the racing beat back boxes as I was intending on swapping them over to my other EGI. If I can I will, if not they will go back on (these are very good condition).
Has Koni rear shocks and what looks like stock shocks with aftermarket springs on the front. I was planning on swapping these to my current EGI as IMO they handeled a lot better than my KYB's. Time has not permitted this though.
Rear interior has been removed. Front is as normal but with no carpet.
I was told by previous owner that engine was rebuilt about 20k ago but I have no paperwork or details. Had it checked over and serviced last year at Haywards North by Steve Garbutt. His opinion was that it was in good mechanical order (engine felt good to him) and just needing some welding to front chassis and drivers side rear sil. The welding was all done last year for it's MOT by professional body work company at a cost of £200.
Body work is far from great. Paint is faded but other than that it is OK. No holes appearing or anything like that.
At present car would need to be trailered away.
Im looking for £350 ONO for it, otherwise I will think about breaking and keeping the good bits for myself.
Thanks
Mark
