I sold a car a couple of months ago via ebay.
"reason for selling is that it is unfortunately surplus to requirements as I have 2 other cars."

He must go through cars quickly.

When he bought it he said he had been after a 75 for a while for his 50 (ish) mile commute every day as his RX8 was too juicy !

He's back.

I queried the cambelt, made up some fluff about recognising the car from the last time it sold and said I knew it hadn't been done. He asked how I knew it was the same car but tellingly didn't deny it. I'll tell him I zoomed in on the tax disc and read the registration, see if he's daft enough to believe me biggrin

Sorry to bother you, but it says the car has FSH, is this dealer or independant service history?
Could you also please tell me the date the last service was carried out & if you have receipts to back up the recent cambelt change etc.

Many Thanks

I'll let you know what he says.

Timing belt is an expensive job due to there being 3 of them & the locking kit to do it is rather expensive although i have done a few without the kit.

Iirc the belt kit is over £200 just to buy it!

Edit: Why is the italic formatting unreliable here? Sometimes it works, sometimes not...

It doesn't work over a paragraph break.

No receipt of work = no work done. That's the way I look at it.

I got this when i enquired about it:

"Hi

I don't have a receipt for it as I wasn't the owner when it was replaced. There is a note in the log book stating that the cam belt was changed & it was stamped by the garage that did the work. Nothing else has been replaced as far as I'm aware, except for the new battery that I put in last week.

Regards

Simon"

I think everyone should keep asking about it, he must smell a rat soon if not by now.

Just sent him an email. Wonder how long till he gets pissed off?

I bet he thinks he's going to get a really good price with all this interest hehe.

It doesn't matter what you're selling, Ebay is really frustrating regarding lying buyers.
EFA

Since ebay changed its terms and conditions a while back, it's long been a place to avoid if you are genuinely trying to sell something.

Just asked him about the cambelt too. Also asked him what his best possible price for cash would be.
