He's getting really arsey with me via email. I am so tempted to send him a link to this thread biggrin
Not worth the hassle that Garlic could end up getting from the guy . . . just keep winding him up via email and post em up for review and suggestions for the reply

Did anybody report this a___hole to ebay? If not we should do immediately! God knows how many cars are running around on borrowed time due to faked service histories!

Here are some of his emails to me. Can't be arsed coding them into individual quotes so have listed them in the order received.

All I did in the beginning was pose some questions, sort of thing you'd ask as a genuine buyer of a genuine seller. He immediately became defensive (see the quote on page one) but quite tellingly has not offered to prove that the car is as described. He's trying to be clever by constantly referring to the dealer stamp and avoiding everyone's request for a straight answer on the cambelt.

How can you be sure this is the same car when I have blocked out the reg plate in the pics?!?!?......OK IF YOU NO THE CAR WHAT IS THE REG THEN MATE.....AND IF YOU ARE SO SHOUR THEN CALL ME HERES MY NUMBER 07772656165I WILL BE WAITING......I am still waiting for you to tell me the reg number to prove you THINK you know MY car.......Go play on the motorway.....btw....what starter problem??? You clearly have the wrong car....go check your details & let me know what the car reg is - cos you still haven't told me - get a life loser!........Err, I can't see any messages from you telling ME the reg of MY car?!?!?
I would appreciate it if you would stop messaging me & s*d off & annoy someone else.Like I said, go play on the motorway....
I know it's just another scabby eBayer selling a relatively low value car but he's a liar and I don't like liars.

Good work there on the gumtree link, Flintstone.
Although the reality is that some poor mug is going to get stung by this, despite the best efforts from the PH massive.

There really should be a way to shop tts like this for making false claims on goods they're trying to shift. It's nigh on theft.

I gave you straight answers to the questions you posed based on the info from previous owner & what is in the book - that is the only proof I have, unfortunately, not everyone keeps receipts for their records as I'm sure you do.
Replied...

Flintstone said:
Look, why don't you just stop playing with words and admit you've been caught out? You can mither on about the service book all you like but we both know, and I'll write this part slowly because you obviously have problems with comprehension, that you were told by the previous owner that the cambelt had NOT been changed and would need doing. I recall him being a nice, honest bloke who priced the car with the required work in mind. You got it at that sort of price yet for some reason feel it's alright to rip people off. That's alright, is it?

You've advertised the car in eBay, Gumtree and the Exchange & Mart/Salisbury Journal/Romsey Advertiser/Bournemouth Echo/Bridport & Lyme Regis News group of newspapers. How do I know? Never mind how but the fact that I do should tell you that you're not bright enough to be dishonest. Do the right thing and sell the car honestly. As I said before, a lot of people are watching this.

PS I have every single receipt for every penny spent maintaining my cars but then I tend not to hide things when I sell them.

I had this reply when I said I had spoken to the previous owner.

"Can you please give me the details of the previous owner as they told me they had the work done."

So know he bought a car from somebody whos details he didn't have!!!! Marvellous, just gets better.

Not by me. Someone made the point on the last page that might cause problems for PH. Garlick? What say you?

Did you point out that the seller actually told him the opposite?

"Hi,
Is the Rover 75 still for sale? It looks a really nice car, and so I was wondering if we could agree on a price since it didn't reach the reserve. I had seen another for sale previously, but it didn't have the expensive cambelt change done, so I decided to avoid it. However I'm pleased to see it has been done on this car."

After asking another question: "could I view the car and call the garage that did the cambelt?" I got another reply of:

"You're more than welcome to view the car, let me know asap. There is no number for the garage that did the cambelt, just their name on the stamp"

Obvious reply here would be "OK, would you mind letting me know the name of the garage is on the stamp so I might be able to find their contact details myself?"

His is only options are to say 'no' (pretty much an admission of guilt), make something up (which would be easy to check) or to stop talking to you altogether and risk losing a possible sale (in his mind).

Just emailed him through gumtree. Accidentally left my phone number in, bloody auto fill.

Had a chat with him, he says it's stamped saying the cambelt done but he can't guarantee it.
