IMO £22k is a lot of money for a 3-door hatchback, one with a reputation as not being the nicest around - admittedly this one looks more sorted than the standard model and I look forward to reading the reviews but I'll leave it for somebody else to take the hit before it registers any interest from me.Fox- said:

Exactly, it's getting about 5.7 on the PH rating dial at the moment even though every initial review says it is very good so far. Go figure. The badge-snobs on this website are hilarious.
There's an Aston Martin Cygnet down at the local garage at the moment, now that's a proper hot hatchback with all the right credentials. You don't need a Nurburgring decal on one of those puppies to sell it. It's the real deal, unlike this car with it's silly Vauxhall badges.

As far as I can see the only thing chavvy about the Corsa is the fact that when it's been saddled with depreciation, a low power one is ripe for the teenage, tune up and max brigade...
Along with Fiestas and Saxos etc....and now 3 series
FAR to many here try and wear Clarkson's 'tousers' in attmept to be cool.
Imagine reading that kind of review again and having a BMW, Mini or Renault badge on it...oh how some of you would cream your pants...
I know the CUP 200 Clio is a wonderful thing...but is the entry level such a wonderful product? didn't Clios of old pop their bonnets after a bit... hardly a basis for some of the greatest hot hatches... but yet the CUP isn't saddled with "its only a tricked out Clio..."....

Evo told them the Clio Cup is the greatest thing ever, it is wrong to question such things.Along with Fiestas and Saxos etc....and now 3 series

I made the tricked out comment based on the following points made in the article.
Drexler mechanical limited-slip differential
expensive Bilstein inverted monotube items combined with some stiffer, progressive rate springs
Brembo has supplied discs with increased ventilation
Obviously there's more going on than has been reported in the article but I still think that 22k is silly when you take a look in the PH classifieds for cars of similar value.
Personally, I wouldn't touch a Clio with a very long bargepole. Yes, I have owned a MINI in the past and a trawl through my posts over the years will attest to my dislike of certain aspects of it. I'm not to keen on BMW although I do have a liking for the older varieties.
I take it that you have already put your deposit down for one?
Hi, I always said I would never buy a Vauxhall, but as soon as I saw the Corsa VXR I had to have one. Had my Red VXR nearly 4 years now & shes not missed a beat. A brillant Hot Hatch she just pulls & pulls & no probs with VX dealer either. £22k is too much for the new version, will have to wait & see if there are any deals, unlikely I expect

Thats a new car v used car argument though so surely irrelevent?I mean the £6k Hyundai for an i10 is ridiculous, the PH classified has Jag XJ's for that!
The £13k Fiat want for a 500 Abarth is ridiculous, you can buy an E46 M3 for that in the PH classifieds.
The £60k Porsche want for a 997 C2 is ridiculous, PH classified has 997 turbos for that!
See how worthless and pointless comparing new prices with used prices are?

Do they use 100 RON in Europe then??? Seems strange to quote HP ratings on fuel not available in the UK, although I concede this is actually an Opel and not a Vauxhall badged one?
Bp / Aral super plus is 102 octane in europe and V-power in Europe is usaully 100 Ron.I read the background of this car with a bit of a grin. What PH reports is nice and probably what OPC told them. However you would do well to speak to the guys behind VXR brand in UK who will give you the real backgroudn to the project. You will be told the truth about how the real inspiration for this car was the Megane R26-R and that Vauxhall actually had one on loan from Renault to test it. Lets just say that the original concpet for the Corsa nuburgring was much different to the end result. OPC but the axe on things like half cage and no rear seats............

Precisely. For the magic £15k you can have a hell of a lot of used car but you don't get that much these days on the new market. I mean the £6k Hyundai for an i10 is ridiculous, the PH classified has Jag XJ's for that!

Fair point. It was an ill advised comment to compare a new car to and old car.I mean the £6k Hyundai for an i10 is ridiculous, the PH classified has Jag XJ's for that!
