In my experience most of the people who say such [stupid] things drive around in crap boring Euroboxes.

fk 'em, get what you like and enjoy it.

It may be seen as a girly car but doesn't stop me liking it.
Saw numerous 200/230 (and up) driven by chaps- who cares who thinks what.

Do people really avoid buying cars just because they think others class it as a girl's car? Try finding a car that doesn't have a negative stereotype associated with it, there isn't any so buy what YOU want.

Or, why don't we all just drive A4 1.9tdi S-Lines just to keep face in suburbia.

I used to drive a eurobox, boring and no fun in them.

Then I got an mx5 with red interior in it. My then boyfriend didnt like it because it commanded too much attention. So I dumped him.

I dont drive it with the roof down to get attention, its because the go-karty feel i get from it and the rush from the wind in my hair and no Im not a hairdresser and I dont worry about my hair.

If you like the car get it. Stuff anyone else. My neighbour makes supposedly (to him) funny comments about my car when I wash it, so I just reply back 'yours is not worth washing' cause its a stty berlingo!

It's definitely a car that girls *like*, but that's different to it being a girl's car. A girl's car is a pink StreetKa or a burnt orange Micra convertible. A man simply cannot be seen solo in one of those, unless he's Dale Winton. A Z4, Boxster, SLK etc are all seen as a bit girly for no other reason that they're the kind of sporty two seater cars that girls with a bit of interest in wheels go for and there's nothing wrong with that. I've owned a Z4 and an SLK and enjoyed them both. Anyhow must dash, off to an Erasure concert...

I've had the same st at work because I was looking at SLK55's. "Its a middle aged womans car", although according to MB's stats the majority of SLK buyers are women in their 50's.

fk it, the only person's opinion that matters is mine. Oh, and the other halfs, and she won't complain biggrin

I think if you have to ask this, you're probably not going to be happy driving it around town with the top down - so don't bother! From an MX5 driver.

A car is neither a girl or mans car, if you like it buy it!! If you want a roadster with plenty comfort that you can use everyday then you must buy a Boxster there really is no competition for how they drive compared to others. A close second for me is the Z4M Roadster which at current prices is a steal!

Boxsters are anodyne and competent, a but like upmarket fridges. They do the job. SLKs are a bit left field and equally good. Buy the one that feels right.

Certainly a good car the slk but if it's handling and driving fun your after I'm afraid there's no competition at all.

And there we differ. Both are excellent cars, and it comes down how you measure driving fun and handling. The Boxster is clinically good, the SLK has character. Pick which you likesmile

We had an SLK350 at work for a while, I hated it. The build quality and general finish was very poor, hard leather, cheap plastic, doors that closed with a rattle, handles that could have come out of a christmas cracker etc. And I hate the styling, very fussy details around the headlights and on the bonnet, and a three pointed star in the grill that couldn't possibly be any bigger, just in case passers by couldn't tell that it was a Mercedes. I'd rather have an MX5.

I bought my wife one. She chose it over a Boxster which we both thought was realy badly finished compared to the Merc.
I used to leave my Tuscan in Germany and nick the SLK when I got home. Enjoyed driving it.

Every Mercedes is a girls car. They are the brand of middle-aged women.

Very true. AMG is so much more wrinkly girly than then the Fiat Punto, even if its grande.

Dont think so, not in black anyway

Guy I swim with has one of these, with the AMG alloys and its a nice looking motor. So get it if you like it, I would.
