Swapping my licence would be the last resort really...having a foreign licence in the UK has some "benefits"
I thought they were clamping down on those benefits?matrignano said:

£100.000 a year, you have 10k deposit, just save up the rest and pay cash.
Do you have alot of disposable income?
Can't complain, but would still take more than a year to save £30k!Do you have alot of disposable income?
good luck with finding the moneys!

I have plenty of bills! As much as I'd like not to, I have to pay for rent, gas, electricity, water, internet etc.
And I have a credit card on which I've racked more than £35k of credit, all paid in full at month end.
I've been employed for 3.5 years with a UK bank, pay my taxes and NIC, am on the electoral register etc. I've even studied in this country!
I'm hardly an unknown quantity...

But you are actively breaking the law by driving on an EU licence after your 3 years are up.I'm hardly an unknown quantity...
Is it any surprise no-one trusts you with their money?

Any way the licence swapping process can be sped up?
I'm travelling a bit in the next few months and can't risk having my passport unavailable for 3-4 weeks!
Yes, you can do it in person at three only DVLA local offices (Glasgow, Nottingham and Wimbledon), or at Head Office.I'm travelling a bit in the next few months and can't risk having my passport unavailable for 3-4 weeks!

Wasn't there a recentish case where a foreign/EU national (Bulgarian?) bought a car on finance then skipped country with it?
I suppose Brits never do such things?Funk said:

Provided your licence remains valid you may drive in GB:
Car, motorcycle driving licence holders (ordinary driving licence):
until aged 70 or for three years after becoming resident, whichever is the longer period
Been driving here myself for many years on an EU licence. As for the benefits, works both ways. Isn't the usual advice here to ignore fines from abroad?Car, motorcycle driving licence holders (ordinary driving licence):

Indeed my broker told me that the finance companies wouldn't fund my deal because of this 3 year rule, which is completely bullst as confirmed by the DVLA (I even called them to confirm).Hence why I think this is a discriminatory policy.
