Ha Ha Ha... Eat Our Dust, Plod!*

Thames Valley Police humiliation complete, thanks to latest acquisition

Can we take the bicycle after all Guv?
Can we take the bicycle after all Guv?
The car (we don't know what else to call it) once notable for recording the lowest ever score on the PH O'Meter has entered service with the Thames Valley Police.

Mitsubishi's press release today states the company is 'delighted to announce the delivery' of said mean machine following trials we reported back in '09, although we can't help thinking the delight won't be quite as unalloyed back at the station. Forced smiles the order of the day at handover time, we reckon.

Still it's not all bad. Chiltern Transport's fleet manager Dave McDonald is quoted in the press release as saying their strategy is 'necessary to protect future generations from the worst effects of global warming' (we promise, he really did say that), and the vehicle will be used for routine non-emergency duties around Milton Keynes city centre.

So yes, it's probably not such a bad idea really. But it's still funny.

*NB. PistonHeads does not condone taking the rise out of anyone, and especially not our friends in the force. (This one just slipped out...)

Cant see an issue personally, right tool for the job etc. This will be used in urban areas, not high speed motorway chases.....

Reminds me of a police vehicle I saw in Mexico last year. Looked like a converted golf trolly, two seat cab and a flat bed behind. Mounted on the flat bed was a place for third copper to stand. Mounted to the cab roof was a squad size machine gun!
I dont have a picture of it, but it was clearly a version of this:

Would being forced to change your usual panda car to this constitute a fair claim for constructive dismissal?

Somehow I don't think we'll be seeing that on an episode of Police Interceptors.

Edinburgh Police have been using Smart cars for some time in the city. Seems to make sense.......... until you see them scoot through city traffic with lights flashing and sirens blaring. Then you just have to giggle!

I just rated this thing a '5' by mistake. Can I retract my rating, I wouldn't want to affect the result!

Mind you, its probably amusing to punt along as fast as possible, in a similar vein to all underpowered vehicles.

I notice they are using these in Milton Keynes - no hills. I wonder if they will deploy them in High Wycombe hehe

'necessary to protect future generations from the worst effects of global warming' - What an absolute prick. Honestly, who gave that spunk thief a voice.

I think I can safely say that Dave McDonald sounds like an uneducated bell-end.

If he has chosen this as fleet manager, then he has surely not understood his role properly.

Non-emergency duties? So when they're sat outside Krispy Creme and someone flies past in a stolen Astra thats just ram raided Bargain Booze, the cossers are going to have more chance catching them if they get out of the ugly pos and run. The whole thing is a complete waste of money imo, still, can see the funny side though.

Also, whoever designed such a vile machine should be shot.
