If they want to be THAT careful, buy them some pushbikes.
Supposedly for 'local' use aren't they ?
Who is going to tax, insure and maintain these foreign products ?
Another fine example of taxpayers' money being squandered.

2] There's no Road Tax on an EV. Very little maintenance. Insurance, do the Police pay Insurance ? I'm not sure they do.
3] Non-British product ? Can't see how the Police would benefit from driving a Morgan.
4] It's unlikely the taxpayer paid very much for this EV [ if anything at all ]

The police do pay insurance, our policy costs about £250,000 per year for insurance (so im told).2] There's no Road Tax on an EV. Very little maintenance. Insurance, do the Police pay Insurance ? I'm not sure they do.

However, no road tax is charged on emergency vehicles. If you look closer at one, the value on the tax disc just reads: £NIL.
Well, what's not to find amusing about cops driving around in a pram? They're supposed to be a deterrent; yet they look ridiculous. I wasn't aiming at the deeper financial aspects, Mr Threespires, all I was suggesting was that our law enforcers look ridiculous when driving silly little cars like this. Not a very intimidating presence. Even compared to the Volvos.

Cant see an issue personally, right tool for the job etc. This will be used in urban areas, not high speed motorway chases.....
Reminds me of a police vehicle I saw in Mexico last year. Looked like a converted golf trolly, two seat cab and a flat bed behind. Mounted on the flat bed was a place for third copper to stand. Mounted to the cab roof was a squad size machine gun!
I dont have a picture of it, but it was clearly a version of this:
Dave McDonald is quoted in the press release as saying their strategy is 'necessary to protect future generations from the worst effects of global warming' What an asshole, they really do spend much of out tax payers moneys on crap, TVP really must try harder an do their job as the plao and not mix with the dheads in westminster...Reminds me of a police vehicle I saw in Mexico last year. I'd rather have the cops turn up ASAP when the scum are breaking into my house or attacking my family. Sorry but the nearest patrol is in the electric car and can't come to your aid! Mr McDonald I should imagine your job description mentions buying vehicles for an emergency service NOT Greenpeace.

They don't need doors when they spray machine guns at drug warlords.
But then again they wouldn't catch them in that.

Do the police pay insurance ? What planet are you on ?
Benefit from driving a Morgan instead of a foreign car ? More nonsense because you have no intelligent answer ?
Do you REALLY think that all these vehicles will be donated free gratis ?
More cloud cuckooland talk.

I love it!!! give all cops this... when u really need them u might finally understand why they never turn up on time. or amazingly catch u when your only 5mph over the speed limit.
Ah, but you miss the point - 'speed kills' don'cha know?I applaud the police for buying electric cars as they are keeping their speed down and saving all those lives. A positive contribution to road safety. Mind you, as already mentioned, they would all be safer on pushbikes or walking. That would save millions of lives.
It is far more important to save everyone from the "worst effects of global warming" and speeding than catching criminals.
He missed the point because these 'things' are supposedly for poodling about the local area in, rather than for chasing anything, for which obviously they already have specialist vehicles.
Even a clumsy old Ambulance or Fire Engine is (IIRC) expected to get to an EMERGENCY call in 8 minutes or less, so the local rozzers hardly need supercars to reach some pissartist puking up in the gutter or picking up a shoplifter from Top Shop...though that would be fun.

It might be that the Police don't pay insurance in the same way we do. I believe that a Bond is posted against which any claims are settled.Do you REALLY think that all these vehicles will be donated free gratis ?

But maybe you know different ?
And Yes, I do believe that there is a chance that Mitsubishi supplied the car as a test machine.
But maybe you know different ?
