RE: Video: LFA vs GT-R, ZR1, GT2 RS and Ferrari 430
Discussion
No way - shame to see them coming to an end, love their videos.
You can dig out some great old vids of them testing Ferraris and Porsches against Supras, NSXs, Evos etc on track.
Also look for the crazy 'Touge Battle' videos - head to head battles down mountains in bonkers tuned rice rockets.
Love it.
I miss the golden era of the nineties imports... :-(

Given the way the GT2 driver was guessing at the gearbox I'm amazed that the car survived! If he'd mastered that, and had bigger balls on the brakes down the main straight, He'd had been much closer to the GT-R to give him a hard time.
Bit embarrasing for the Ferrari...
Agreed. The GTR should in no way have been near the GT2 RS under braking. Still I have to marvel at the GTR's all round ability.Bit embarrasing for the Ferrari...

Sad to see Best Motoring will no longer be around. Despite the very heavy bais they've always had towards Japanese cars, they were still brilliant fun to watch. They actually seem to give all the cars a proper thrasing and often have group test line ups that other car mags could only dream of.
PS. that LFA is the best sounding current supercar, no question. Low revving torquey turbo engines are fine for normal cars, barges or supersaloons in every day use but for drama, give me a V10 which screams to over 9000rpm so quickly an analogue counter couldn't keep up with it, any day of the week.

Sod the result- that Lexus sounds awesome in a borderline sexual way!
Love the 'vette driver chortling at the Ferrari over the line at the end, shame it wasn't Top Gear drivers/production, in which case he'd likely have given him the finger :-)
Lastly (despite not being a porker fan) if the GT2 driver had been abit slick with the gearbox he might have had the 2nd place sooner and had a chance at reeling in the GT-R, maybe given another 2-3 laps he'd have clawed his way into the lead.... but as road cars one has to wonder how many laps more before the brakes where cooked?
I'd wager the GT2 might have lasted longer at track speeds than some of the others.

While I 100% agree on the LFA having quite probably the best engine ever made (and given the current regulations pushing FI, the road car engine ever made) I'm not sure I buy their marketing spin about it revving too quickly for a normal dial. They've managed to make them work on race motorbike engines for a few years and they don't even have flywheels...jon- said:
Would love to know what tyres they were wearing.
Doesn't the majority of those cars come on track day cut slicks (GTR, GT2, 430 Scud) and the LFA and 'Vette run normal road rubber? That's worth 3-4 seconds at least over Fuji.
Agreed, you can visibly see the LFA going off...people forget how important tyres areDoesn't the majority of those cars come on track day cut slicks (GTR, GT2, 430 Scud) and the LFA and 'Vette run normal road rubber? That's worth 3-4 seconds at least over Fuji.

That guy in the GT2 RS seemed a bit hit and miss with a manual gearbox.
This, I think if, for an example, Walter Rohrl was piloting it might have pipped the GTR early on, but there is no denying how good that NIssan is Oh and the track is awesome, which I had a PS3 and GT5 now!
Really think PH are missing a trick here, surely there's now an open market for them to produce this kind of video? Obviously there would be some differences: the track would be a Tesco carpark, the cars would be an old 300ZX versus a Rover 216 versus a Honda Del Sol and halfway round the lap they'd stop to have a massive fist fight about the cyclist they'd just overtaken.
Wow, I never thought PH would call that Ferrari a F430 GT3. Please, get the fact right! It's a F430 Scuderia RSD (a japanese tuned road going F430 Scuderia).
Here's what happened several weeks ago.
4.6 KM 3-lap battle:
Results (Finishing Order) Best Lap
1) Nissan GT-R - 1'53"6 Lap 2 ( Driven by best driver Tsuchiya. Best traction/grip out of all)
2) Porsche 911 GT2RS - 1'55"1 Lap 2 ( 2nd gear had synchro issue)
3) Lexus LFA - 1'55"1 Lap 2 ( New just delivered to customer with 867 km odo. Traction control all Off. Sideways at times pushing through corners)
4) Corvette C6 ZR-1 - 1'56"2 Lap 3
5) Ferrari F430F1 Scuderia RSD 1'55"4 - Lap 3

Well there you go - I'll freely admit that I had never heard of such a machine before, but you live and learn. Original article is now EFA Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
