How about the Fiesta GTR, a special edition of 150 by Evans Halshaw? Designed to look fast and sporty but really a basic 1.25 with a Zetec S bodykit and Rimstock alloys. It's aimed at young drivers who want something sporty looking with cheap insurance so, to be fair, it meets the design brief.

How about Retards in Intelligent persons coats, we seem to have a few on here !

Ok, it's like this, it is the reverse of the phrase "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing", the original phrase means something that doent look that potent but is, in this context the reverse is true, so things that look potent but are not, you know that Saxo with 12 exhausts that has a 1.1 engine, that's what we are on about, not the standard looking Saxo that actually has 250 bhp.

Does this thread extend to any and all Barrymobiles which look as though they've crashed through a Halfords front window?

I nominate the Subaru Impreza 2.0 GX

All the looks of the WRX, with the power of your average Mondeo.
That looks like the WRX only if you're blind in one eye, and can't see out the other.
What differences would 'man on street' notice except wheels and a 'slightly different' spoiler? (Of course the exhaust, brakes and interior will be different, but what will man on street see at a distance? A WRX.)

The GX is missing the huge intake scoop on the bonnet. I think the "man on the street" would notice that.

I've driven a couple, I'm not sure why a 180hp car needs 255 section tyres (iirc)
You could say the same for the base ZT - you could spec 225/45/18 wheels / tyres on a car with only 120 BHP...

I wonder what the lowest "power to tyre width" ratio is?

Possibly the same car I nominated on the previous page: A Covin 911 replica fitted with 911 Turbo sized wheels and tyres with a bog standard Beetle lump. smile

Any Audi S-line fits the bill nicely. For example, this could be a 2.0 TDI or an RS5. Who knows rolleyes

Someone needs to drop a Cossie lump and running gear into one of them as a double bluff biggrin

a bogo Porsche 911 carrera 2 with a full gt3 body kit and wheels on it
Is it just me that's completely unable to tell different Porsches apart?

I wouldn't be able to tell a Carrera whatever from a GT3 (without seeing the badge) and, even if I could, I wouldn't know which was the "fast" one paperbag

They're all fast. Apart from the diesel VW.

My skyline had 4 spacesavers on for a week while I had the alloys done. Would that count?

-edit- Or would that be highest ration?

That wouldnt work as you will need huge wheel arches to accomadate all the cosi running gear

and much bigger wheels required to make it go tongue out

I am utterly astonished by how long it took certain members to grasp the thread topic. It really isn't that difficult, surely?

A bit controversial is this, but, blisteringly fast where you’d expect it to be, open tarmac, autobahns, runways etc, and biblically slow on rough, winding, potholed B roads… The Quattro concept exited, stage left, when this car arrived.
