Roger Moore was a very wonderful human being. Sean Connery was, it appears, not a very wonderful human being. But he was a great screen actor. Also, Petula Clark liked him (allegedly).

Joanna Lumley.

Ooops, sorry, that's best Dr Who!

Only kidding! Anyone who does not agree that Jon Pertwee is THE Doctor has to fight me (and my friend).

Dalton was the closest to the Bond of the books. He had to put up with a low budget, a crap car, and poor tailoring. The franchise got stuck in litigation jail because of the long running Moonraker script dispute, so Dalton never got a third movie. The pre credits sequence and the first 45 minutes of The Living Daylights are superb, and the Ah Ha theme song is great.

My friend is younger than your friend, therefore Tom Baker was THE Doctor.

Fleming wanted Niven as he saw him as the closest to his vision of bond, lazenby the closest in a sanctioned bond film but crap.

Fleming, a snob, was opposed to the working class Connery until Fleming saw Dr No, and then Fleming approved of Connery, and made Bond more Scottish in the remaining books. Bond is half Scottish, half Swiss. His parents were killed in an Alpine climbing accident when he was still a child. It appears that he was expelled from Eton for seducing his House Master's wife. He probably studied modern languages at Oxford, and had a good war in Naval Intelligence before joining the SIS. He is if course not a spy but an assassin.

My dad has been dead five years. I once saw him take on four great big Brummies in one go and win. Game on!

I was always under the impression Connery was seen as the closest to the books as Bond was described as a navvy in a suit

No he wasn't. You evidently have not read any of the books.

Bond looks like Hoagy Carmichael. He is a toff. In character, he is closest to the man portrayed by Dalton. Bond is a cold hearted murderer.

My friend was thinking of making himself a Martini when he was reminded by his wife that he has until midnight to do his VAT return, failing which he will get his nadgers kicked in by some people who work for the government. Oh well, on with the motley!

Your friend has until 7th November actually. My friend recommends a gin martini. Wet and dirty.

My friend has just checked into a very nice country hotel in North Yorkshire. His first night away from home (and kids) in over a year. His wife has had a few nights away recently and it's his turn. A fun and spirited drive up has apparently fixed the lumpy idle from lack of use.

Actually he has a suite with 4 rooms. An exceptional wine list and a very interesting menu.

The agony of choice between 60 day aged rump steak tartare, Isle of Mull king scallop, salt aged duck, partridge Rossini, Saddle of salt-aged lamb or the plaice fried in brown butter?

He will look at your cocktail ideas...

... a last gasp before lockdown.

Whenever my friend has booked into a hotel without his (then) wife he spookily 'bumped into' an attractive tall brunette. Happened quite a lot and ended up him without a wife. The brunette fked off too. I hope your friend's evening is more fruitful.
