When my friend was fooling around with the sporty Polish model mentioned before, he bought a very expensive and blingy accessory to adorn the elegantly shaped extremities of said model. The accessory needed a repair, but he lost it between the repair shop and his house. It wasn't insured.

My friend had recently had one wheel off, and decided to leave the locking wheel nut adaptor on the nut. My friend did not notice anything when driving off, and he did have twitchy bum syndrome on a 800 mile return drive with no adaptor.

If the number of the anniversary happens to be divisible by 5, said friend is indeed in trouble. If it happens also to be divisible by 10, then he is in deepest doo-dah. eek

Otherwise known as GPWM (or indeed GP/WM), if that helps.

Anniversary? Good luck...my friend just about got away with it this year, after he'd booked himself (on his own) on an Owners Club European trip for the same weekend. But at least he realised before he started packing his bags...

My friend's resolution to stay away from the sportier central European weekend models hasn't been assisted by the lunchtime test drive of a Czech type that is usually in the garage of someone he knows through his daughter's school. He had better do some work, straighten up and fly right.

My friend commends your friend's commitment to furthering international relations! smile

In the meantime, my friend has expanded his collection of weekend toys (thanks to the personal recommendation of his first), has lost 15kg, and is actively testing the efficacy of vitamin supplements.

My friend has nothing remotely euphemistic to say about either 'cars' or "cars", weekend or otherwise, but he did once change the oil on his old Mk2 Escort, forget to put the plug in, and cover the barn floor in lovely new oil.

Nothing exciting here, suspect many of your own friends have done the same.

However, after proceeding to clear up the mess, borrowing his father's car, driving 15 miles to nearest garage (lived in middle-of-nowhere in Wales at the time), buying more oil, rushing home, he then decided to repeat same stupid error, having forgotten to replace the still not fitted plug.

My friend once almost fell for the "Let's not buy each other anniversary presents this year - it's not worth it" trick. Luckily, he had read about SWTs on a well known motoring forum and had a pressie ready. Just as well as it happens.

Doing it once is forgetful, doing it twice on the same car is simply retarded. I suggest you get more intelligent friends.

I hope your friend got her an appropriate present, like some feeler gauges. It would have been a shame to experience a near miss like that and then fall down at the final on the quality of the gift...

One of these could be a more useful measuring tool in such circumstances wink

My friend has an even more embarrassing story about oil on the same car, which he is somewhat less inclined to share now ;-)

My friend thinks that comment is not in the spirit of this thread.

Doing a daft thing and then doing it again is exactly the sort of thing that people's friends are expected to do.
