I had one-to-one tuition for both my C and C+E over 3 days each with the test on the 4th day and had no issues whatsoever. Passed C first time with 2 minors but failed C+E first time on a stupid 'serious', but other than that only a couple of minors. Didn't "fry" my head in the slightest. In fact I found it worked well because what I learnt stayed fresh in my mind for the duration of the training until D-day.If this is for a C licence then a deffo NO WAY

Are you per chance the same "ROG" that frequents certain trucking forums and is constantly having his inaccurate and ill-informed posts corrected by people that actually know what they are talking about, or am I mistaking you for someone else (apologies if so)?

I am the ROG on many other forums including trucknetuk and do NOT give wrong info - that is a myth by one of the mods on that site who does not like me on a certain forum on that site
I have asked those that say what you do to quote me where I am wrong but so far no-one has been able to .... I wonder why?
been out today for half an hour, ill not name my instructor but lets say he comes very well recommended with a equally high pass rate.
and i will revive this thread what ever the outcome.
ive been driving a 7.5t for 6/7 years yes the four wheeler is bigger but it seems pretty much the same to me. but im prepared to be proved wrong.

LGV E test tomorrow at 10.30, wish me luck chaps!
OK its well gone noon so how did it go?Touched the barrier in the reverse test, something I have never ever done whilst training for rigid, nor this. Not due to barrier 'fixation' either, thought I'd got it spot on, but that's another story, I shall be 'avin words..
Everything else was fine. However, trailer lights failed on the re-couple, because the connector managed to pull itself free from the unit on reconnection, but identified and sorted.
Out of the routes we trained on, I had the bh of all test routes, plus a nasty left in a 20 mph shopping precinct area that I have only done in a rigid, together with the sort of drizzle that you couldn't find an intermittent wiper setting for. Also, the traffic was unbelievable, I swear everyone was out to fk me up, unlike the rigid test in January that seemed a breeze.
Having said that, my tester only gave me 3 minors, and commented to my instructor that it was a very good journey, just a shame about the reverse.
I have to say, I've not felt so confident as I do now, and feel I could jump in the cab anytime and nail it. Fingers crossed, retest next week, kerchinggg...!
Glad this has come back.
I have been asked to take my class 2. Not really bothered about doing it, but they're paying and it will only be for emergencies because I have more than enough to do as it is.
I have my medical next week and have the application form for the provisional, once I have that what is the order things need to be done in?
I spoke to the instructor the firm has used and he spoke to quick for me to take it all in.

If it did not move the barrier then you have been robbed because touching the barrier is permitted
I'd say the top of the barrier had moved an inch or so from the verticle, the bottom was still where it was positioned. DSA SOP said:

Drivers of LGVs should aim to stop with the extreme rear of their vehicle in the
section of the yellow stopping area covered with black cross-hatching. Stopping with
the vehicle touching the barrier should not be regarded as a fault, but displacing it
should be viewed as unacceptable. Stopping in the yellow box, but short of the
hatched area, should be viewed as unacceptable. Candidates should not normally
get out of the cab to check their position.

If you are paying then anything more than £50 for a medical is a rip offI spoke to the instructor the firm has used and he spoke to quick for me to take it all in.
If with a school then they usually book your 3 theory tests at the theory test centre for you - hopefully on the same day - you do not really want to make multiple trips
Module 1a theory
mod 1b HPT
mod 2 DCPC theory
You can book these yourself but its easier if the school do it
Then you have the practical on road training and test - module 3
There is also the module 4 DCPC practical test and that is best done during your on road training
MODULES 2 AND 4 WILL ONLY NEED TO BE DONE IF YOU DO NOT ALREADY HAVE A CATEGORY C1 ON YOUR LICENCE
I sent off my application thingy to get provisional LGV license today and I have had a colour photo copy of my photocard driving license. The thing is it has C1 and C1E already on it. I'm not rightly sure what they are, but know I've only passed tractor, car and bike tests in the UK, but did do a Class 1 CDL in the US. Not that the DVLA know about this.

Grandfathered 7.5 tonne entitlement (C1 and with trailer C1E) from a <1997 car licence, I presume?Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
